How to handle a misdeal? (3 Viewers)

Why? Burn is easily discernible in our cases, if we're resetting I'd rather ensure proper procedure on dealing the river. I like to limit changes to my dealing procedure, just lowers the chances that I make a compounding mistake. I always burn before the river, therefore I'll do it again.

Definitely agreed, same every time.

My rules guy should weigh in. If the burn hit the table undisturbed, there isn’t a new burn.

@JustinInMN ?

I have tried, and tried to get my gorillas to keep the burn separate from the muck for many years. They do it for a bit, then back to their old ways. I've given up at this point.
Sounds like me trying to convince that one guy to stop dealing the whole board face-down after he puts out the flop.

I told him over and over he'd eventually expose cards and make a mess out of a hand, and lo and behold he did it one night.

For whatever reason, after that hand he became dead consistent about dealing the board out face-down every time. I swear he's just doing it to be a troll now.

Have seen this happen in Vegas when action wasn’t finished on the turn and the dealer dealt the river card. They placed the card back into the stub and reshuffled. The worst part is that one player had been all in on the flop and wasn’t even part of the action on the turn. The river card that had to be reshuffled made the all-in player a full house. After the reshuffle, she ended up with 2 pair that lost to a flush.

Yeah, this is the thing that tends to make people upset, especially if they're casual players who aren't aware that this is how premature cards are handled.

But their argument has no legs. No one cheated them. Shutting down this line of whinging is as simple as one question:

"If the prematurely dealt card had been the brick, and instead the re-rolled card had given you a full house, would you still be bitching?"

Yes, exactly. The all-in player was inexperienced and on multiple re-buys so it was unfortunate, but it is the only correct way to do it.

I place burned cards left side the flop.
Not all do the same.

To get the usual 3 burn cards (no double runs or so), burn after shuffle and cut seems good to me.

Thanks!!
The Australian Star casino style is to place burn cards in the board area, and then place their respective associated community cards on top of them. The latter are placed slightly off-center so that it’s obvious there was a burn. There's something aesthetic about it I can't quite put my finger on, but it definitely keeps the burn well separated from both the muck (and the pot, though lesser concern there), and speeds up cleanup between hands just a little bit in my experience.
