How Much????? (2 Viewers)

BRAND new to hosting, so currently very little. I've got $20 in a 500pc set of slugged metal chips I got on FB marketplace, and another $20 in a couple Copag decks.

My table is a custom job I made myself, but I made it a couple years back for DnD and board games, so I don't count it.

Without the table, I'm only in $40 in right now.

Ridiculous.

Edit…you need to adopt the Hansel and Gretel model. Entice them in with fabulous (chip) candy….them eat them.

*figuratively…as in you need to pay off all your frivolous purchases somehow. Don’t invite good players until you recoup at least 50% of your “investment”.

Just get out now, everything you have works fine.

Wait, I thought people weren't allowed to give sound financial advice here? I need to reread the New Member Guidelines I guess:unsure:
Its reverse psychology, like acting strong on the river. We know you're gonna call, just buy a set already, and then while its being shipped consider your next set. Tail as old as time.

Me following this thread!

Dude, table, chairs, seating chips, cut cards, mixed game cards, you’re just getting started. Lol.

I've hosted a total of two games so far and I'm already around $500-$700 deep. I refuse to look at my amazon order history for an approximate number.

So far I've bought a Barrington table for $230.

Around 600 claysmith gaming chips
Acryllic chip container
4 decks of cards
Dealer button
Slowplay table topper (bit of a mistake buying this)
Cut cards

I actually need to buy at least 100 more chips. Last night we ended up running out of chips despite only being 6 people deep. Other than that my next purchase will be a table topper from @rjdev7. Also might replace my .25c chip because the one I'm using right now is pretty ugly.

Dave’s GCOP set alone is worth over 15k. I know that to be true. He has a lot of what we call Grail sets. A giant of the hobby in my opinion.

I think for some of us a better question and more meaningful is how much do all the chips in your possession weigh? If you search for some of my recent posts you can see what just my “extras” look like.

Edit: on second thought this might be not a good idea. Dice chips and slugged chips weigh a lot!!

I think about this whenever I move them between rooms or houses. When you buy a rack here and there it’s no big deal. But when you move 20k+ chips around at once, it takes some work.

Lol, part of the reason why wanted ads for “show me what you have” doesn’t work well. I’m not dragging everything out just so someone can take a peek at one or two racks that they may be interested in and then lowball me and then they “change direction”. There’s s lot of good stuff buried out there but it’s not Walmart with everything displayed easily and neatly on shelves, it’s older guys with thousands of chips and boxes to move for your viewing pleasure.

Hell, I've got $10K in therapy bills since joining this forum and I haven't made any major purchases yet.

They just found me in the street mumbling something like "China Clays are not clay. Ceramics are not clay. Clays are not clay. Group Buy Not A Group Buy. A hot dog roller can replace my stove."

i just love it when I go to a chippers game and surrounded by tens of thousands of dollars in chips and someone asks me ‘are you a chipper too?’ I’m as much of a chipper as I am a pro poker player, I know a lot about it but my broke ass is just an informed fan of the hobby.
Here's to #brokeasschippers

Just like a boat….much better if a friend owns all the stuff and all you have to do is enjoy it.

Laughed out loud at that last sentence. That's hysterical. You quickly learn these things! Before I joined, $200 was a lot for a poker set even when they were professional casino weight.

I'd say about $1500. I have a fairly cheap fold table. Majestic chips. Copag cards. Folding chairs. Bounty chips.
