Hello,

Is there any way to tell if there are upcoming group buys for Paulsons/CPC? I see the group buy section but nothing for Paulsons and assumed that’s where fantasy chips like the Tigers came from?

Apologies if this is elsewhere and I’m missing key details.

Thank you everyone! I was hoping to get on the next “Tiger” wagon at the onset before they were going for $1,000 a rack in the classifieds!

I’ll just keep watching and lurking…

They are all being sold (at least openly) for what the gen pop bought them for to begin with, although some random racks/barrels are even being sold for a slight loss. Original Pricing can be found here:

So you haven’t missed any discounts on Tigers although it would likely be difficult to put together an ad hoc set at this point. Look into buying a whole set at “Ken’s price” if you like them. That is about as ground floor as you can expect to get on here.

Well then there goes my theory of getting in on a sweet deal next time! My tastes are too expensive, I should’ve just stuck to Amazon when I was looking for new chips but no, I had to Google “real casino chips for sale” and wound up on this site and now there’s no turning back!

Don't we all, don't we all....
Peoples advice when I first joined this site a couple weeks ago

“just be patient and wait until you figure out what you like”

Me watching the PCF classifieds:

“Ooh, these Tigers look like something I’d like. $1,000 for a set is a pretty decent price. Oh wait, that’s per chip…”

Isn’t this kind of a generous assumption? This stuff goes on behind so many closed doors for a reason. Are there receipts or something?

Well, they haven’t been sold publicly for more than the original prices. And there hasn’t been a shortage of tigers for sale since, so I don’t really see many reasons to buy chips at private mark-up sales.

Some of the denoms are probably in higher demand though, haven’t really been following. Still, it’s not like the original prices were an especially sweet deal or anything. They are very pretty Paulsons with cool colors and spots but they would leave a serious dent in any normal person’s chip spending budget.

I was referring to the notion that those who were able to secure them originally behind all the closed doors would ever reveal what they actually paid for them.

It just seems generous to assume the original sale pricing was MSRP or whatever.

Same. And now I’ve been sucked into the vortex. I don’t even own a full set of chips yet and already bought an ultrasonic cleaner. Contemplating a hot dog roller next. This place is the best/worst thing to happen to me this year.

No one’s assuming that.

That’s why I included the descriptors “gen pop” and “openly”. There are plenty of other threads that talk about theories on the rest. Theories aside, one thing I’m sure of is that 99% of PCF will never be in on the “ground floor” or insider pricing track on one of these buys and I was not even attempting to say this was the original purchase price, it was the original sales price for the general population.

Yeah, I guess re-reading it “gen pop” just is those able to secure at ken’s prices, not a step further up the process.

This is all no shade at those making these things happen. As a new person, the NAGB stuff is just very hush hush and hard to parse through.

”Ken prices” just mean what they originally offered the chips to the forum for. Obv they paid less for the chips themselves directly from Paulson and maybe there were a few closer friends getting in on ground level, I don’t know.

Naturally there is hush hush involved in the NAGBs since the people on the inside don’t want to draw attention to the fact that they’re not a real casino (or whatever the story is to get Paulson to make the chips).

Looks like I opened a can of worms. Oops
Naw, I wondered the same thing when I first landed here, as does everyone else. A little mystery is fun. They are gorgeous chips, and it’s cool those that can afford them can get their hands on stuff like that. I love the Royal Princess chips. Maybe someday.

That’s the second set of chips that caught my eye. The 3rd is the Paulson tournament set for sale for like $8k.. https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/binions-horseshoe-wsop-paulson-set-1987-1990-500ct.107131/

If a group of people wanted a GB people can pool money together to go get a gaming license in Turks and Caicos and put an order in directly with Paulson. Nothing is stopping it. Good luck finding willing participants and organizers.

CPC doesn't really do group buys. If you want CPC's, your best bet is to order your own custom set. Their stock designs are nice too, but the real beauty of CPC's is in custom sets.

I'm sure CPC WOULD entertain a group buy.... there just won't be any volume discounts. :ROFLMAO:
