About a month ago, I bought a Redtiger rangefinder. I really like it. So much so, that I bought a second for a vacation home.

The first was $73 new via Amazon. The second was $45 used via eBay. Both work equally well.

Amazon has them for $83 currently. I have no idea how they compare to more expensive rangefinders.

Bonus feature: USB-C chargeable and one charge lasts a year (apparently!)

I'm not that good at golf so I'll probably end up getting something cheaper maybe. I wanted to spend a little more for durability in the long term, but not even sure if the 300 Pro would be "long term".

If you're a typical golfer, you don't need absolutely precise yardage from a rangefinder. I recommend using a GPS app on your phone. I use 18Birdies, and I like it a lot. I compare to my friends who have rangefinders and I'm always within 2-3 yards of their number. The app uses a satellite map of the hole, so you can touch any sand trap, tree or other hazard and it will give you the distance to it. For example, the screenshot below shows you need a 240 yard carry to get over the bunker on this short, driveable par 4 hole.

The free version gives you all the basics, and the paid version ($99) gives you more like "plays like" distance which takes slope and wind into account. And it has a 3D Green feature that shows you which way the greens slope. Here's what that looks like. I use this on approach shots to decide where to try and land my shot, and on chips and putts.

A lot of this is stuff you will never get from a rangefinder. To me, it's way more helpful than just shooting the distance to targets.

We just use it for scores, organizing mini tourneys, handicap, and flyovers. It is great.

super jealous. my bucket list far exceeds my budget. have a blast bud!!!

It's such a special place. Their new lottery system means this trip might be our last (assuming they don't change back) so we decided to go ham. I called on Jan 3, 2024 for this trip and feel lucky that we got everything we wanted.

What’s your thoughts on it thus far? Thinking about grabbing a lab putter this weekend.
I really like it and I am putting a bit better with it so far. I suggest trying the various models in a store first. They do have different feels. Good luck.

For all my golf fans out there, Happy Gilmore 2 is really good! Hope y’all watch and enjoy!

Alright guys, I’m finally in the market for new clubs. I went to get fitted (again) to make sure my numbers are still the same. I knew I needed a half inch added to my shafts, but for some reason, I didn’t believe it. Given the new confirmation, I’m going to get my new set with a half inch added. My lofts have increased from 1° lofts to 2° as well.

The final decision was made. I was getting the Ping G430s. I’m looking for a little more forgiveness than the P790s offer and I hit these pretty well and more consisten distances. Then, it happened! I asked my guy at Golf Connection, “hey, any other clubs you think I should try.” He stopped writing up my ticket and says, “yeah, I do actually.” He handed me the Titleist T350s and told me give it a swing. Guys…OMG!!! Those things are incredible. In addition to forgiveness, these things have some serious pop. I have never in my life hit a 7i that far. My 7i is typically about 158 (according to my MLM). I actually was carrying this thing about 170 and my longest distance on this club was 189 (186 carry which is most important).

I’m now at a cross road. The T350’s and G430’s are about a 1K difference and I’m trying to decide if the money is worth it. I decided to leave and give it more thought. Truly undecided and doing more research.

Also worthy of note: For those of you who don’t know, please make sure you’re comparing apples to apples going forward. During my research, I’m finding that club makers are adjusting lofts and club lengths while stamping a different number on the club. So when you’re testing your clubs hitting a 7i, you might be hitting a club makeup equivalent to your 6. Just make sure you test and make sure the added distance is real. I found this out during my research before going into the store and thought I’d share with you guys.

Anywho, off my soap box. I’ll let you all know what my final decision turns out to be.

I’m a proud owner of the G430s!

Many of my heads flew off in 2 range sessions after just 1 season.

I had them reshafted and basically remade but I got to choose custom shafts. PING has AMAZING customer service.

You will be happy with these clubs. I’m roughly a 15 cap, so I’m a hack, but these will help.

Make sure you are looking at the loft of your current irons vs. the loft of new irons. Your 7i may be going 15 yards further now but it has the same loft as your previous 6 iron.
