I recently purchased 6 dozen Vice Pro with the blue/red drip. Turns out my swing speed might just be too slow to compress these golf balls.

If anyone is interested in the remaining 5 dozen, I can sell them for $125/shipped. They originally cost me $167 (and it was buy 5, get 1 free).

When I was fit for new irons, I asked my fitter for a ball recommendation, and he suggested Vice Drive. Only $20 a box and they play well for my game and slower swing speed.

Speaking of balls, has anyone tried the new Sam's Club ball? It's pretty damn good too for under $15 a dozen. My son who's about a 6 hdcp bought some and likes them. He gave me a sleeve when we played a few days ago, and I like them as well. Good distance and good feel around the green. The ball surface feels really sticky, and results in chip shots that check up nicely for me.

This is a pretty good review with some comparison numbers if you like that.

Damn that's an expensive 3-putt machine.
I told the guy that this thing better place the balls in the hole for me. He laughed so I took that as confirmation.

I’m returning this thing after my first 3-putt! That’s not what you sold me!

I've been playing golf for almost 60 years. My dad first taught me around age 8. I played a lot from my early teens through my late 20s until my kids were born, then cut back to 5-6 rounds a year other than a few years around 2006-2010 when I lived on a country club course and played about 2-3 times a month. I say all this to qualify that while I'm not as good as I would like to be, I'm decently competent. I've had my hdcp as low as about 12, and currently play to about a 16. But now that I'm retired, I'm hoping to get down to around a 10 or less. I'm playing about twice a week right now. Even though I'm getting older, luckily I still have decent distance off the tee.

That introduction was way longer than it needed to be - LOL. But my point was that as many rounds as I've played in my life, one thing I have not yet achieved is a hole in one. But oh boy, did I have a shot yesterday that seemed almost as exciting. I drove the green on a 265 yard par four! And not just a simple, short hole. This one has a pond along the right side that comes all the way to the edge of the green. And it's well bunkered besides.

Pulled this off of Google maps. Pin was in the middle of the green, and and my ball was almost exactly pin high, I little over 20 feet right of the pin. I'm really not sure how I navigated that bunker. My shot had a slight left to right fade, and when it hit, it was rolling to the right. The ball probably came down in between the two greenside bunkers and rolled downhill towards the pond. One guy in the group said it was probably in the water, but then another guy looked in his rangefinder and said no, it on the green!

My phone has a great camera, and I was able to get this shot from the tee box. That's one of the other guys in front of the green, and my ball to the right. Those are the fairway bunkers in the pic. You can't see the bunker that's directly in front of the green.

Anyway, I don't have that many golf buddies, so I had to share my excitement with you guys. And no, I missed the eagle putt. The greens were stupid slow. Left the uphill putt about 3 ft short, but did get the birdie.

I was thinking of getting the Callaway 300 Pro rangefinder. Is there a better option around this price range?

About a month ago, I bought a Redtiger rangefinder. I really like it. So much so, that I bought a second for a vacation home.

The first was $73 new via Amazon. The second was $45 used via eBay. Both work equally well.

Amazon has them for $83 currently. I have no idea how they compare to more expensive rangefinders.

Bonus feature: USB-C chargeable and one charge lasts a year (apparently!)
