There is no silver lining in this. They had great customer service and product at an affordable price. Unfortunately we all just lost a resource.

Definitely sucks, especially since we also lost Sal and Joe @ PGI retired this year. So who else does custom dealer buttons at this point?

That sucks. I had a line out to them about making some customs to expand my Rockingham Park set. Emailed at least a couple weeks ago, no reply. Looks like I shouldn't ever expect one.

Since I'm here, what are the next closest custom ceramics out there to GOCC's product?

OK I see where I missed them, they're the smaller ones under the custom poker chips (49mm). ABC used to do the larger dealer buttons / coasters but I know they discontinued those a while back. So no more options for the nice 60mm buttons

edit - I stand corrected, looks like Gene offers 60mm button now (y) :thumbsup: see below!

Pretty sure that Gene also did the printing on all of the (Sun-Fly) 60mm dealer buttons sold by OWPS. He's no rookie to the size or process.

Gene does great work, if I were to get a set of custom ceramics I'd likely go with ABC, all the samples I have from them are awesome. He also made these buttons for me many years when they offered the giant coaster buttons, they're still my favorites. I just didn't think they offered the larger 60mm buttons, they must have not added them to their website yet.

Vendors disappear. Some die, some retire. The barrier to entry is extremely high, and even with the equipment there is a large and expensive learning curve for a new vendor. At least two vendors bought equipment, only to determine they lacked the ability to produce chips on the equipment (though Red never admitted his extreme failures).

A fire, a natural disaster, another retirement, or an unfortunate death and that avenue dries up.

Either you want customs, or you don't. People that bought customs from a reputable vendor don't regret their purchase. Those that want customs but don't buy eventually regret it.

I don't know if anybody else is going to G2E in a couple of weeks, but I got an eblast a few days ago of "vendors who I might be interested in" and one was Game On which also had the old Chipco logo as part of their own logo.....So maybe they are rebranding and there is a corporate shuffle (I knew they had old Chipco employees), and they at least had plans to be at g2E in a few weeks.
