My thoughts & decision after analyzing 11 popular sample sets (1 Viewer)

For newbies, one consideration with CPC chips….and this may not impact many…but consider cleaning. I bought my CPC (ASM) set from 2002-2004 and they were heavily used (for home chip standards ) up until about 2007-8 then only a couple times a year. While you won’t get the collection of sputz you see with casino chips..they will get tacky and …from what I understand, can’t be cleaned with an ultrasonic or as aggressively as say a Paulson. Simply wiping them off with soap and water or a damp cloth doesn’t do much IMO.

A few years ago I went with BRPRO ceramics for a new 1200 chip set mainly because of ease of cleaning…but also because the artwork options and option for 43mm sizes. Clay chips are definitely cooler (and way more expensive) but maintenance for them in a high use situation should be considered.

I HIGHLY recommend you don’t allow people to eat at the table and any snacks should be of the non greasy variety…like pretzels!

I'm pretty sure you can ultrasonic CPC chips, but the most popular cleaner (TSP substitute) will eat them up, you need a different detergent. Not sure what the best option is, but I'd bet CPCs can handle some light dish soap.

Great write up and thought process, and great discussion. Thx! I got my chip set of Tina ceramic no mold cash set (from @justincarothers) a year ago, and have been very happy with them, playing about bi-monthly. They have spinners in them, but I don't mind that much and I like the colors and feel. Players are happy with them. I dream of getting CPC chips someday, but like you @BobbyVegas said, I can't justify the $$ cost currently. Please leave a post about what you get when it arrives.
