New chipper here!

After getting my obligatory composite clay dice chips I started shopping around for nice chips. At first I was thinking about getting ultimate poker chips but after more research these seemed to be barely a step up from dice chips and I cooled off on the idea of them. Eventually I found Skyline chips and have decided on these, really like the colors and clean design of the inlay. Currently waiting on a sample roll to come in before I pull the trigger on a full set.

My only issue is that these seem a little pricey as far as ceramic chips go. Pokermerchant seems really expensive in general, and I've found some cheaper chips on alibaba but they were blank and I generally don't trust these kinds of merchants even though this is where the chips probably come from. Pokershop.de seems like the best choice assuming no surprise tariffs.

Does anyone have similar chip reccomendations? Shops with better prices I may have missed?

Those Skyline have an interesting look. I’m not a fan of the abstract design but it is unique and I could see others liking it.

For ~$1 per chip there are a lot of options out there.

Or just keep an eye on the marketplace and buy something from a PCFer (my personal recommendation).

You can do better for that price. Thats twice as much as the Tina chips and you get to customize your own design with Tina. There’s a great set of ACF tournament ceramics on here for $1.25/chip and those have history.

Thank you for the recommendations everyone, sadly nothing has really caught my eye other than the Skyline chips. I just really like the chip design and inlay and have my heart set on this one, at least for my first set.

That said I am interested in doing a group buy for this if we could just submit the Skyline inlay or something similar. Is that something that could get setup?

As of just a few months ago, the Broken Arrow group buy here on PCF includes a free tool where you can create any design you like. If you can convince others to buy it with you, the $80 label fee is split.
Personally I'd be tempted to do it just to get rid of those insanely annoying zero-comma'd fracs in the Skyline chips. What kind of lunacy is that?!

Wouldn’t be the worst idea to have a sample/shuffle stack from Tina, CPC and Paulson. That way you would have something to compare to in terms of feel, sound etc. There is a lot more to the experience than the look of the chip.
I have seen a lot of sets bought and sold on here. I have never seen the skylines before, which makes me a little dubious. But when the sample arrives, if you love them, go for it.

I saw another chipper who had a very similar experience I did down to considering the ultimate chips as a first upgrade. It seems like he landed on the Skylines as well and likes them enough. I'll probably do the same and order samples of other types down the line if I see any designs I like. I like the looks and colors of many of the clays but not a big fan of the inlays and I'm not creative enough to come up with one, will keep an eye out though.

Honestly with how unique looking these chips are I'm surprised I haven't been able to dig up more on them from this forum outside of that post. I assume they must be relatively new and there is only one vendor (who isn't a drop shipper) that sells them.

I like that they're doing some "abstract" (i.e. new) edgespots, but I don't think these are sun-fly? Surely Tinas (or at least china), no?

Anyways, $1 a piece is pretty heavy you can, with patience, get Paulson chips for that price (depending on your stakes) so for the love of God - GET SAMPLES! before you pull the trigger. Those chips aren't going anywhere, they're maxium 4-5 weeks away, worst case.

With the sale on pokershop.de it looks to be more .80 per chip so a bit more manageable. Just hope the sample roll I bought comes in before the sale ends.

Update!

The sample roll came in and I liked what I saw so I pulled the trigger on the Skyline chips. With the sale on pokershop.de the chips ended up being about .83 cents per chip which is a bit pricey for what they are but I personally like them. That said they do have some flaws.

The edge spot color doesn't quite align on all of them, most do but each chip has at least two that are noticeable if you pay attention. Each chip also has a mark from the manufacturing process which should have been removed better for this price point. And finally the chips are a bit slippery as others have said in my research, they have some texture to them which helps keep them in place but once they start sliding they slide.

Overall I am happy with the chips. Durable, no stickers, unique look and fun to handle. That said they are very expensive and would only recommend them if you just really like the aesthetic like I did.
