Hey all,

I bought some china clays from Apache that I'm planning on relabeling. This is my first venture into custom label chips, and I'm working with a graphic designer I know personally (but isn't involved in the poker scene). I gave them a few guidelines to work off of:
  • I like a more elegant/luxury look. Readable calligraphy type font was encouraged.
  • My nickname is "A$," so I wanted that to be front-and-center.
  • This is just a home game, and I might move in the future, so I didn't want a location of something like "A$'s poker game" on it.
  • I did want the denomination.
  • I like background designs. Borgata's and Aria's both look great.
  • My cats sometimes visit us when we're playing, so I was open to something cat-themed.
This is the second round of what the designer came back with. Right now, I like #3 the most, maybe with #1 as a close second. I have the option of incorporating color, but I'm not sure how I'd want to include it. Any thoughts on these so far?

Denominations are going to be very difficult to see. Overall I lean towards option 3, but I'd increase the denomination size quite a bit. Remember this inlay will be less than an inch wide so even though it looks fine on a screen, if you print it off to scale it'll be very small.

This is a cool concept, it has a lot of possibilities.
I'm not sure it needs to be calligraphy to say elegant. What if you treated the A$ like a logo? You could use it like a casino logo uses on ther chips, just an idea:

You could always add a paw print, but I like the cat silhouette idea.
I also think the denomination should be fairly readable.

Whatever you decide, should be a great set!

If you go with centered denominations, center the number only, and make the dollar/cent sign smaller.

If you don't want color, maybe consider a old school look with an off white gradient background (like the bellagio 98 chips)?

As a crazy cat guy myself, I want to say forget A$ and focus on the cats. Revisit A$ when you're prepared to drop about 2K on a CPC A mold set (that time will come).
