I've been meaning for quite some time to create a thread as a running blog, to document all the degeneracy in my game room. Not sure the room has an official name, but the table and chips say “Fat Tire Poker”, so that’s a start.

I’ll start out with some historical perspective, by posting pics of previous setups, a glimpse into the journey to where I am now. I’ll follow up with some photos of previous notable games, along with some of the cast of characters you’re likely to see in this thread. Then look forward to regular updates on all the debauchery. Feel freee to comment, or if you are ever in the Madison area, stop on over for a beer and some poker.

Before we start... I host an annual chip degen-a-thon (Mad-Town Throwdown), but this BLOG will not include action from these games. These chip meetups have their own home (respective blogs). I'll provide links below:

MTTD1 (be forewarned, this blog was on an older outdated site, most pics links are bad)

This was the inspiration for the room... yup, this neon sign. Inspired the table felt, the chip inlays, and even the chip base colors.

Here was my first table build. A 50” topper to an existing pub table... worked really well.

The pub table, with foosball in the foreground.

151637

I wanted a bigger “Hold’em” table, so I scoured CL, found a junky Chinese table, and completely refurbished it. It was still a POS.

151667

Eventually I built this table. Secured these $350 HON chairs (insane steal at $9 each).

151669

Then I needed a place to store all my chips. I had these drawers made (took a lot of finesse to install correctly).

151668

151666

Here are some of my nicer chips. 2000+ Benny’s Riverside Paulsons, and my custom CPC Fat Tire tourney set.

A standard table wasn’t quite enough, so I set to working building THiS table. It was a labor of love, but the results speak for themselves..

151649

Needed more cupholders, so I piggy backed off a @T_Chan order with @Jason and snagged these drink carts.

151670

Wanted more nice chairs, so I scoured CL some more and eventually found more HON chairs. These are cloth, and not quite as nice, but again, I only paid $10 each.

151675

Here’s the overall room, with two tables setup..

151650

The room got some new powered theater seats. Comfy

152608

Here’s the workout room with a third table setup (snagged this from a buddy of Phil Helmuth, who had a number of these tables left over after a PH charity event in Madison).

The Mrs. ...she’s not a huge fan of poker and gambling, but she can get into the spirit (or troll me) from time to time..

Here are pics from some notable games:

Started playing games w/ the neighborhood guys... then their wives approached me and asked me to host/teach several ladies nights.

Some of the husbands (fish, every one of them)

Started introducing some better players, and the neighbors took a back seat (literally, one neighbor sitting in the back...)

Crazy degen crew. One night storms (tornados) knocked out power. We had glow sticks, head lamps, and a battery jam-box for music. The game played for two hours without power!

Started playing more tourneys, and this was one of the earlier games.

Michael Noel (Noelsarch on CT) wearing the silver puffy jacket, was moving to the UK, so we threw him a going away game. (brother Shanghai Sparky was in the Cream sweater). BSoder in the black shirt and @Highlander3 in the red jacket. More chippers showed later.

Two days after his 42nd place WSOP ME finish, local pro, Mark Kroon, brought his $265,000 prize money to my house for some spirited 1/2. Several other local heavy hitters were in attendance.. including horseshoe whisperer @HanShot1st on the left.

One and only time food was allowed anywhere near my table (j/k)

I started to incorporate food pantry donations into most of my tourneys. Bring extra food, get extra chips. This game produced TWO full tubs of non perishable food items. My kids helped deliver all the food.

This is great stuff! Thanks for sharing - watching this thread for sure. More inspiriation for my own home game. Love that most recent table build a beautiful!

I’ve run one tourney so far where a portion went to a donation pool and the winner picked the nonprofit to donate. Love to hear of players giving back.

This is a great idea as I'm in the beginning stages of getting a regular game going at my house. Current setup is a hand me down folding poker table and suited chips....which lead me to this site.

I've built a few tables back in the day but would love to see your build for the suited maroon table if you have anything. Thats exactly what I'm looking to do this spring but with folding legs as I won't have a permanent spot for it. Your main table is awesome but I need some practice builds before I try and tackle anything like that!

Overall great setup!!!

Poker night. Small group. 8-handed to start.

Started off the night with dogs and drinks. Slight hiccup on the dawg roller front... the damn thing worked flawlessly at our NYE party, ran for hours heating dogs to perfection. Tonight, after 10 minutes, something happened and the machine kept tripping our GFCI outlets in the kitchen. Damedest thing. Unplugged everything from all the outlets, turned off the appliances and it would only run for 5-20 seconds before tripping the outlet.... turned the temps (heaters) way down low, still tripped. Turned one burner off, still tripped... if I gotta send this thing back, imma be pissed.

Great group of guys. On deck tonight we’re the Benny’s, and the new Faded Spade cards. The crew liked em, but the feedback I got was the decks felt much thicker than what we’ve been used to, the Modiano PAs.

We were playing dealer’s Choice games, and hit NLHE, Pineapple, PLO, PLO8, double board PLO, Queen Mariah (stud), and I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Games were fun.

I wish I could show pics of a monster stack, but the only one I could find was a buddy’s stack of around $300.

I was the most legit card dead I’ve been in a while... just couldnt get anything to happen for me, at one point I was in for $220; and cashed only down $50. I’ll take it.. I was down $160 at one point, and clawed my way back.

tripping our GFCI outlets
Was the outlet tripping or the breaker?

If it’s the outlet needing to be reset it’s possible it’s a problem with the outlet. GFCI outlets do not do well with motors. How old is your house? Do you have a single GFCI with regular outlets downstream or all GFCI? If you have one on the line it might be worth just swapping it out with a current generation outlet.

also be interested to know if you tried it in another outlet (on another breaker) and had the same result.

Great setup, I’m very envious.
I know it’s been discussed in other threads, but regarding the faded spades - you said they’re thicker than modianos, but what’s your opinion on their flexiness?

Crazy degen crew. One night storms (tornados) knocked out power. We had glow sticks, head lamps, and a battery jam-box for music. The game played for two hours without power!

Good to know we all have degenerate friends. Mine start playing liar's poker in the parking lot, and some even arrive tilted to the game

Been a couple weeks since hosting last. (Went to Vegas last weekend).

Playing NLHE 9-handed. Likely mixed games later. Hot dogs in play. Fat tire beer on ice.

Running good. Winning several ALL in hands with a flopped pair/flush draw. One was a button bluff with 72. Paired the 7 with a flush draw. Rivered another 7.

Had a second 72 button bluff, flopped a flush draw, rivered the flush ($+100).

Random game pics.

Ended the night at 3am... we played alternating orbits of NLHE and mixed games. Crazy action. I successfully pulled off bluffs on the button with 72 on two occasions where my bluff turned into the winning hand (flushed and tripped up). I ran like god, was in for $60 and cashed out +$400.

Been on family vacation (and taking a few weeks off from hosting). There's a lot of poker on the horizon, with the MTTD coming up, and a 30 player tourney the weekend before (pre-game). So I felt taking a bit of time away from hosting might generate some marital good will...

Anyway, I just received the latest addition to the Fat Tire Poker room, with a new chipset... It's been 2 years in planning, saving, and designing these chips. Over 2000 custom CPC chips on the CSQ mold, with shaped inlays (bike gear of course). Designed to tribute the colors in the FT neon sign...

I will post more pics of these in action later tonight.. couldn’t get these chips delivered without hosting an impromptu cash game. Criminal.

The pictures don't do the $1 chips justice - really have a lot more pop in person.

I'd be looking around the table and my eyes would just be drawn to a stack of them - almost like they were shining

That’s so cool to hear. It was my intention to make theses chips appear electric, just like the sign. I really like the 1’s too.. I also found myself checking out the stacks of 1’s at t(e table.. of course, you had the biggest stack of them for quite a while...

Getting prepped for the MTTD (and my three table warm up game Tonight). I like these new Gasser chairs much better than the black stackers I had before.

Agree that the upholstery on the new chairs looks decent with the red felt.

That other table is more orangish in RL. ...Here they are at my burgandy felt table. Much better imho. I’ll be using the HON task chairs for this years MTTD, at this burgandy table. But future events will be using these Gassers for all but the FT main table. They really are comfy.
