Diet bet - lose the dad bod before becoming a dad - giveaway comp (1 Viewer)

Lol but the rest of you aren't as vain as I am. I've just downgraded from a mustang to a fiesta and im not enjoying it.
I've accepted that I drive America's #1 selling minivan. Enjoy your Fiesta. I'll roll up to the drive thru in my Oddesy.

So my neck is back to normal and I'm back in the gym, but I decided to hold off the diet until today, because it's weigh-in day for the work diet club challenge and I wanted to be extra heavy for the initial weigh-in lol, so that I stood a better chance of winning.

Current weight 83.7kg, so I've actually gained 0.2kg since the start . @mipevi and @detroitdad looking good right now

82.3kg this morning and i've been sticking to the diet perfectly and putting in some good sessions at the gym.

I can see my belly pushing through my gym shirt during a session, so that's both disconcerting and motivating at the same time.

Poker session at the casino tonight, so I've got to try to avoid McDonald's whilst I'm there. I might hit up the noodle place and get chicken satay sticks and steamed rice.

Do they have Bacon McDoubles in Pearth? Are you familiar with a game called the 60 McNugget challenge? Remember you need energy to succeed at poker so consider a refreshing milkshake too for the calcium and hydration.

I had a double quarter pounder with bacon on Saturday lol it was lovely.

Right now I'm dreaming of chicken, rice and steam broccoli. Mmmmm. :confused

Dropped down to 81.8kg, but had a few cheat meals over the birthday weekend. Poker game didn't help, I got pretty drunk and had hotdogs and burgers.

Back to 82.4kg

I've taken a few progress photos and visually I look better, so that's a win at least.

Happy late birthday!

Well I took another backwards step lol currently at 81.8kg again.

Better get my arse into gear for the end of September.

@Beakertwang and @honkydevil is probably about where I'm realistically going to be able to get to I think.

FWIW, once you commit to a total diet change and make it a consistent habit it's not as painful on a regular basis avoiding the junk. I haven't had McDonalds in (roughly) 3 years, dont even miss it honestly.
The other thing I found (personally, perhaps not for everyone) is balancing out the healthy foods and your regular (desirables) foods to an every day mix like 80/20 if you will.
For the record (I used a calorie calculator online) my job burns roughly 3,000 calories for 2 to 3 hours of work, any additional exercise on top of that is usually bonus food in my eyes (I do normally enjoy running or walking the dogs after work)
But I do my best to eat my healthy foods for breakfast and lunch, keep everything low cal high protein, and LOTS of salads. At dinner time I eat whatever i want, doesn't matter, chinese food and ice cream, popeyes, whatever the other half wants to eat (he doesnt do salad or rabbit foods lol) but I found that still allowing the foods that I consider desirables in my regular diet helps me avoid cheat days. I don't eat 85 chocolate covered almonds on a cheat day anymore because I can have 5 on a regular day. I know you're grown and know how to diet and everyone has a system that works for them.
But I have found if I stop eating carbs (same with sugar) altogether and bring them back in after I've reached a goal weight, all the weight comes right back....again just personal experience.
I diet every day of my life (except weekends) and my goal is to maintain 145-150 on my frame (5'8")
I typically can stay in that range most of the year (Thanksgiving to new years is my weakness, I LOVE cookies LOL)
I struggle with my weight, always have always will, I over eat like a beast and obesity runs in the family, but its manageable, and doesnt have to be miserable, and IMO not being miserable is the most important part of a successful diet.
Anyway. Sorry for the rambling, I wish you the best of luck and hope you reach (and exceed) your goals!
Brie

Edit: forgot a side note, I highly recommend detox tea (can buy it a walmart or a grocery store) helps cleanse out bad stuff from cheat days (and you wont be on the potty all day) it really makes a huge difference

You can do it! You have some serious motivators locked up as prizes -- backing up your words, I'm impressed.

Life Hack: When you're playing poker, just move your chair out of the way and do some air squats and lunges. Maybe some dips on the rail if you're real adventurous. It'll probably tilt the hell out of other people at the table. WIN WIN.

About 12 days to go and I'm down to 81.3kg (or 179.2lbs), so I'm getting there. So far I'm almost able to use 2 belt holes down from when I started, which is surprising for only 2.2kg (5lbs).

I've been trying the intermittent fasting thing on weekdays and that seems to be working quite nicely.

Long way to go and for the most part I still look shit in the mirror, but at least look good post-workout after I've got a pump. (@WedgeRock @RocAFella1 I know that's going in the out of context thread)

My goal is 80.4kg by the 30th September when this challenge ends. I will keep going though and am aiming to get back to 77kg eventually.

If I were to point out that life begins at conception, how long before this thread devolved and needed to be moved to politics?
I used to have absolutely no issue with people opting to terminate very early into pregancy, but since finding out the wife is pregnant and seeing the scans I must say that my personal view has changed somewhat on that front.

I'm not gonna risk getting into it any further than that but I've certainly viewed it as a living child since seeing the first scan at 8 weeks. Until I saw it (still an it because we dont want to find out gender until birth) on the scan I didn't fully understand.

Been upping the cardio intensity this week in a desperate attempt to have a strong finish  :ROFLMAO:. Down to 80.7 as of this morning and I'm actually regaining most of my strength. I was super happy yesterday to get to only 2.5kg off my previous bench record for 5 reps. That felt like a big mental victory.

Congrats!!! Sounds like the hard work is paying off

Final weigh in was 80.2kg. Not what I wanted when I started this, but Its progress so I'll take it.

I posted up my equal best bench press for 5 reps yesterday, and am starting to go relatively heavy for squats and deadlifts so at least my strength is almost back, which is a good sign for my progress.

@honkydevil wins, so please send me your address and I'll ship your prize.

These are all livee chips from Montecasino in Johannesburg, which I picked up, whilst playing for a quick hour on my honeymoon whilst the wife was sleeping  :ROFLMAO:.

Fun fact, the hundo is actually worth about $7usd at the current exchange rate. That means it would be worthwhile attempting to harvest the 5 and 10s.

Typing as a father, the Dad bod struggle is real. Well, it would be real if I made the effort for the struggle. I think I've gotten past the struggle part and moved into acceptance.

Hopefully you found that your efforts are sustainable. Best wishes hitting your health/fitness goals moving forward.

Awesome! Thanks!

Glad you made progress, keep it up!

And thanks for the story on them I had no idea what they were, didn’t realize they were from a real casino. Are they Matsui or similar quality plastic? Will be something cool and new for me to sample, thanks again. PM coming.

I believe the lower three denoms are Matsui, and the 50 and 100 b&g.

Hey Mike, unlike these other hooligans I was interested in your progress and the possible winner.

How’s it gone since this ended? Did it fall off a little or have you kept up with the exercise/good eats? Will be interesting to see if the shift can carry over through the little one coming along!

I fell off the wagon again  :ROFLMAO:. Nothing too terrible though.

I just find I'm not as interested as I used to be to have a year round beach bod lol

I've got a friend that is fed up with being puny and has never lifted a weight in his life, so I'm unofficially taking on the role of his pt. I'm setting him up with a training and diet plan and I'm going to follow the same program (except I'm trimming and he's bulking lol).

I'm going to force him to write down his lifts for every session and count all his calories and macros and we will be doing a weekly check-in. That way I will be accountable to him and him to me.

Hopefully that works. 13 weeks till baby due date

This thing ended ages ago, but it's worth an update since a lot has changed.

Fell off the wagon again after the last post  :ROFLMAO: and ballooned up to 86.5kg just after christmas  :whistling:.

Re-found my motivation though, especially during isolation and have just weighed in at 79.5kg and feeling better than I have in about 18 months. Now that the dad bod is gone I'd like to lose 3 more kg and get in even better shape than I managed for my wedding.

We also managed to get my puny friend up from 63kg to 71kg in that time as well. Quite funny to see how confident he is now. The man practically lives on tinder now  :ROFLMAO:. Mission success.

My plan in the next 8 weeks is to try to drop the last 3 kg and get down to 76.5kg. Disclaimer, that's going to be quite tough and I will be very lean at that weight (my body definitely doesn't like being too lean lol and actively fights me at that point).

So let's do a giveaway to keep me on track again. Just one giveaway this time and it's going to be a bunch of random chips

If you want in, post what you think my weight will be to the nearest 0.1kg on 24th June.

Closest guess gets the prize.
