Zero. One private club in London used to. It’s all Matsui now. At best…Out of interest, how many casinos in the UK use Paulsons? Anyone know?

Plaques is a cool addition. Not exactly cheap, but usually they are reserved for bigger denoms so one doesn’t need as many.My players love a fancy plaque or jeton much more than an expensive chip.
Leaded Paulson’s might please you. Worth exploring but they’ll be pricey.I have chips, I have a set I really like, I'm not looking for another "amazon" set. But I always dreamed there were even better ones, this forum has me thinking there is more out there, and I'll keep looking. Got some Paulson samples coming in, got some Royal 43mm coming in. Maybe I'll like them...
I think we have to be careful of the expensive = better. It's probably better for most people but not everyone. My players love a fancy plaque or jeton much more than an expensive chip.
I don't know of any casinos that use Paulsons in the UK. My local (Stratford) has really horrible chips. They feel sweaty if that is even possible.

You should check out what a lot of us have done with CPC. I wouldn’t let those samples stop you.I have chips, I have a set I really like, I'm not looking for another "amazon" set. It depends what you mean by quantity, I have a fair amount of chips, but no variety. There are virtually no discrepancies that I can notice. Since this pic I've got around 60 of the majestic plaques that go nicely.@TheADMIRAL
If you had obtained chips in quantity, you'd come across other disparities. You'd probably find these issues even more tilting.
Leaded Paulsons are unquestionably closer to 10g than 14g. Some leaded hot stamps make it over the 12g threshold, as well as some (but not all) leaded oversized chips.Leaded Paulson’s might please you. Worth exploring but they’ll be pricey.

If these were perfect I wouldn't be looking for something else. So don't think I'm saying these are amazing, they aren't, they are very good, especially for the price (although they don't make them anymore and it requires eBay hunting).
Thank youOutside of ceramics OP might want to check out Abbiati and Matsui. High end plastics aren’t for everyone but they make a good product and the level of consistency I think OP is looking for can be found there. I’m a clay guy but I’ve seen some of those sets I’d definitely own?

Agreed, the heavy set I owned was B&G. Liked it aside from the weight. Not as slippery as Matsui or AbiattiSo you have a set of Casino Royale chips, made by Cartamundi as promotional materials straight from the production design of the 2006 James Bond movie.
As far as slugged plastics go, they are not the worst you can buy. But if you are truly looking at casino quality heavy chips, you will need to look for Bourgogne et Grasset (B&G), usually from casinos in continental Europe.
Alternatively, there are offerings from Abbiati and Matsui, but they aren't quite as heavy at 11.5g. We've done group buys here, search for Crowne Plaza and Park Place designs.
Thank you for explaining this process. New member trying to understand the differences in chips with both Ceramic and Clay variants. Much appreciated.A few things:
- Your plastic slugged chips are injection molded - in massive quantities on industrial machines that were designed to cheaply churn out millions of identical plastic chips
- CPC (and Paulson and TRKs) are COMPRESSION molded, which is an entirely different manufacturing process which starts with blanks of “clay material” which then have edge spots punched out and replaced with other colors of clay chip material placed by hand and then compressed to form the chip, which is then lathed down to final size. The
- there is nothing “painted” anywhere on a clay chip
- CPC inlays are generally aligned in production
- there are imperfections - in the same way that a hand carved sculpture is going to have imperfections which add to the unique feel unlike a CNC carved or 3D printed item.
- If paying for a hand crafted item doesn’t appeal to you then your best bet is probably “Tina” cards mold or hybrid chips for ~$.50/
PS - shuffle your samples 1-200 times to soften the factory lathed edges and break them in a bit. They’ll feel and shuffle better than any plastic chip out there
CPC rocks!

I will attempt to illustrate why sample sets should be the very best of the best of a manufacturer's production capability.I think these samples are so you can feel them and judge colors and mold looks. I don’t think they are showcasing their label alignment or their color QC. If you want samples that demonstrate that you should ask specifically for them if that is a deal killer.
All you need to do is just lightly brush the ass torture with a brush.
It seems to me that it is too difficult and expensive to sort out the worst and best chips. This handsome guy has now become special!IF they relegate slightly defected chips for samples as a cost saving measure then I WOULD raise an eyebrow at that given prospective buyers, such as yourself, would use the samples to determine if a larger purchase is warranted. I want to say CPC doesn't take this route but there's no way for me to actually know.
Sending out anything less than your best as a sample is a HUGE mistake, IMO.This has been brought up before by people that buy sample chips. CPC should make it clear that the sample chips are pretty much rejected chips from a run. It can be confusing to someone that is trying to judge if they want a set based off just the few sample chips they receive.
The quality of a full set will be much better! You still have a few error chips, but they also include some extras to make up for it.
You’d be better off trying to buy some samples of members custom chips to get a realistic representation of CPC quality.
