Chicken Rob
Full House
hi all,
Thought I'd check in, since I bet no one has done that before. And also, since I've been awol a while.
In October I got really sick. By thanksgiving it was really bad and I checked in to the hospital. I had pain in every joint and muscle in my body, pneumonia symptoms, and could only manage eating about 400 calories/day without having more severe symptoms. I was in so much pain I could barely walk, and needed help from both my parents to get out of bed.
In the hospital, where I spent 12 days, they tested me for all the big scary diseases and infections. My bone marrow biopsy was the highlight of my time there.
The only thing they discovered was my pneumonia (which has been treated)
I got out of the hospital right before my birthday (dev 19), and moved in with my parents as I need help with daily living tasks. (I can't drive for example).
Since I've been out I've been recovering slowly but steadily. My digestion is getting better, I've stopped losing weight (I've lost 70+ pounds since October) and the slow increase in food intake seems to be making me stronger. I'm on disability leave from work, but hope to start back up in a couple weeks now that my energy is returning and my brain is starting to work.
To make things worse, before all this started I had frozen shoulder on both sides from rotator cuff tears from a jet skiing incident.
All the testing in the hospital was negative except the one for pneumonia, which is not the cause of all these symptoms.
So at this point, I remain anemic, which makes me tired and keeps my mental energy down, have only joint pain in my hands, am up to about 1200-1500 calories/day, still have the frozen shoulder, and have pain when sitting from the site of the biopsy. All this seems like a lot, but compared to where I was in November, I feel almost healed.
I've gone from round the clock narcotics to 2 Tylenol/day for pain.
Not sure if I'll be well enough to endure the BBotB or not, but today I've eaten more than any day previous, and had no ill effects. The food really seems to accelerate the healing as you might guess, so I remain hopeful.
Anyway, some of the local PCFrs were in the loop on this, but I was just too low energy to tell the story. I don't have a computer, just my phone, and I hate forum browsing on the phone. Despite this, a couple people had been curious about my issues, and since I live my life publicly, I thought I'd check in.
Also, for those waiting on chip sample sets, they will be coming when I move back home.
