Cheating allegations at Stones (4 Viewers)

But doesn't this shift at some point from law enforcement proving a case against Postle to winning players needing to prove that they didn't cheat?

I don't think so. Postle's win rate isn't what got him sued (or what may get him charged). It attracted attention, then people noticed peculiar behavior... Then more peculiar behavior... That's what got him sued and may get him charged.

I don't think a winning player alone will undergo the same scrutiny as Postle... But when he wins at an extraordinary rate, people look closer. And when they find behavior like Mike exhibited, it's a circumstantial case... And then people look for hard proof.

The fact that Veronica did the JI podcast after the lawsuit was filed is a little weird to me. The defense will pour over every word she says... Clearly, Plaintiffs don't care, and don't expect this to go to trial, IMO.

Not saying it's not the stream in question, but to me that white streak along the top makes it look like a clean home screen with a search bar at the top. I'd have expected to see nothing at the top if it was the screen they were talking about.

So I don't find it all that convincing. Other arguments are though.

I was thinking it looks like a notification from a text message or something, but the resolution is too low to really say.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the first thing seen during Doug Polk's interview with Veronica Brill?

In his interview with Joey Ingram, I heard Veronica speculating that Stones wanted to generate hype by branding Postle as a soul reader... I think that's exactly what happened. Stones figured that it could get it's viewership numbers up by Postle making these sick reads. At these low limits, it wasn't life-changing money. I don't think (at least initially) it was about stealing money. But they either lack discretion or got greedy, or both.

I can see why you guess that, but I was in high school for that one. Mine was a different Woodlawn high school murder years later. The victim was named Steven Parish. He was in a gang and was murdered by his gang because he sent a dick pic via text message and they decided that was grounds for killing. Cell phone evidence was key to the conviction of the gang leader who ordered the killing. Really sad story but taught me a lot about the justice systems and cell phone towers.

Such a tease. Like oh... the other Woodlawn murder that hasn’t been making national news since 2014. #FreeAdnan

I think he did it so don’t take this wrong. But the thing that still gets my gears is that, if I were at a table with a guy that kept checking his phone during a hand, it would super tilt me. How did he go a year without one of the guys next to him getting curious and peaking at what the hell is going on there?

That's why he kept it in his crotch. People still wonder what the heck is going on, but are afraid to look.

Matt Berkey explained in one of the Solve For Why podcast that everyone playing at the Stones is using a phone to text/twich/vlog/comment live the game and also that the request made to the players was to make it discretely for the "visual quality" of the stream. Therefore is was not unusual for the players to be on the phone. The goal of the live twitch is(was?) to promote the brand and the use of the phones is(was?) to bring more people to watch the live stream to contribute to the commercial strategy.

I get that, and I think streaming is great for the game. But I don’t think the players should be allowed to view the stream during play. This summer I played a live streamed WSOP Satellite at Windy City Poker, and we were asked to 1) stay off our phones while in a hand, and 2) not to view the stream while at the table. Seems like a common sense best practice. Even in offline games, most places I play allow a phone at the table, but you’re not allowed to be on your phone during a hand. One casino nearby bans them completely; you have to get up from your seat if you want to check a text message, and no headphones allowed. I wouldn’t go that far... but no phones during a live hand during a broadcast game seems obvious. To the extent that the fact they allowed it at all seems deliberate to me.

In fact, if the casino asked them to comment on Twitch during the game it really opens up his defense. If challenged on why he checked his phone so much, he can argue he was participating as requested, checking his mentions and reading comments from viewers. As often as I check my Facebook, Hell as often as I check my mentions on this forum, I’d imagine that’s addictive as crack.

My local casino is being very strict with no phones being used while at the table. Guessing this is fallout from the Stones drama.
More jurisdictions have been enforcing this as of recent years. South Dakota went to a solid 'No phones at any poker game' rule that was passed by the Gaming Commission. This was previously enforced by the local casinos at their own discretion. There was small talk of collusion a couple years ago, so the SDCG stepped in and made it a hard rule. There are no casinos that have any life feeds, or recordings in South Dakota though. However, no gaming material in the casinos in SD are allowed to be connected to WiFi. We have some in Colorado and Minnesota, but not like Cal, or Vegas, (and I'm assuming AC and some other places south that I don't know about.

Someone is selling them on teespring already. I don't think it Joe though.

They probably watched Joey's stream and had it made the next morning lol. Ripping his idea off. Probably already on Amazon

“I guess he wins a lot of hands of poker. I don’t gamble, because that’s how many hands I lose. But we don’t know what the facts are. I can just say this: When I play poker I lose almost every hand, so I know such streaks are possible.”

— Real quote from Postle’s attorney.

I didn’t know poker DGAF was an attorney. Good for him. Can’t wait to hear about it on sessions.
