Back when I lived and played poker in Tampa I encountered a couple of Cubans who always sat diagonal from one another and were caught marking cards.
Five years later I'm in Austin TX and who do I see but those same fuckers show up at The Lodge. They had already had people suspicious of them, but the room hadn't caught them doing anything. I pulled a floor manager aside and clued them in on what they were doing and how they were doing it and they acted quickly, caught them and gave them the boot.
Since then I've been furiously spreading the word on multiple socials and they were just recently caught in Houston trying to cheat.
They typically will use their fingernails to gouge the outside edge of a card based on its value. In the middle for middle valued cards, at the top/bottom for broadway cards and unmarked are low cards is how I understand it. They try to sit seats 1 and 6 so they can trap players between them for raises, and seat 1 can see the edge of the deck. So they'll know if the runout will favor high, middle or low cards. They can still lose to flushes, and they'll still lose hands when they haven't marked the deck fully. But they show up with some outrageous hands and wins in spots and a lot of people pass it off as them being crazy gamblers because they don't win every hand.
