With a few weeks off work, I decided to give box building a try with some help from a couple friends. Still have two more coats of Waterlox to go, but almost done.

Each box should hold 1000 chips with the bigger box having room for cards, etc.

Wood is quarter sawn white oak.

Love the dovetails but you need to add some handles or hand grips. Those are going to be very heavy and unwieldy with 1000 chips in them.

The bottom of the box is raised internally so I can wrap my hand underneath on both sides. Thought about handles but ultimately decided I wanted a wood only no hardware box

Really nice! How about simply three x one inch cutouts on both ends instead of protruding handles?
