As I have stated over and over I am not interested in debating on an internet site.

I just think we should all look at ourselves and what we actually do for a community? What is a community? Does a community separate and then throw stones at each other? I do not have the answers but I think we should all look at ourselves.

We all want a great "community" and the person I look at to make a positive change is the same person I see in the mirror every morning.

I love you, man.

No mention of poker...

To me, a "community" is a group of individuals that help one another, look out for each other, and share resources for the common good.
Great definition, and one that appropriately applies around here. Just stop by any meet-up for confirmation.

Dude

Fuck this shit....... I'm tired of hearing about it..........im tired of discussing it.........im tired of people who could not have possibly have been included in it being pissed off about it........ it's time to put this shit to bed and get back to lusting over eachothers chips......... wtf are these new members even talking about? I have been here since the blue wall, but I have not been a very active member, i dont expect to be included in shit that I have no fucking skin in and I don't feel like I am owed an apology for what all of us are trying to do. We are all trying to get chips, and we are all trying to get a good deal. Yes, I would have loved to be included in the group buy, and I would have kept it a secret if I was involved, but I am not a member that is super active in the community, and i know that I am not at the top of anyone's list to be included in things like this. I'm just so fucking tired of hearing about it. Half of the new members now a days act like this is something that should have been presented to the entire community, but they just joined two weeks ago. Wtf is wrong with you guys...... bide your time, do your fucking homework and search the sites for some deals.. if.you don't even have 50 posts shut the fuck up and listen to people that have a million times the experience that you do....... most of the great deals are accomplished far away from this fourm........ just wait, contribute, do some research and you might get a chance at a great deal...... it's not an instantaneous fucking thing once you join an online fourm.....it takes time, and might never happen....... also I am very drunk so take this with a grain of salt....... fuck off with your entitled posts and fucking do some work........ scrounge out the deals and bring some chips into the community....... If your a member for a good while, and you prove that you are not a complete douche bag, you just might get included when someone finds a way to get some chips for a good price.

How about offering "the community" 20+ set raffles at cost?
Pondering the plausibility and logistics of such an idea..... assuming 20x sets at 500 chips each (10,000 chips total - or more than three times as many chips as most chip collectors have total), how do those chips get purchased in the first place (so that they could be made available):
  1. an individual buyer invests $15,000 for chips (in excess of their own $1,500-$2,000 investment for their own personal-use chips), to be sold to others later at cost -- dunno about anybody else, but I don't have $15K laying around for a risky zero-return investment.
  2. each individual in the group (assuming 30 members) invests $500 for chips (in excess of the $1,500-$2,000 investment for his own chips) to be sold to others at cost -- dunno about anybody else, but if I had an extra $500 laying around, I'd be more inclined to use it to purchase a bigger set. I suspect this view to be widely shared by all members of the community.
  3. individuals in the group privately contact others not directly involved (or are contacted by those not active in the project), and offer to purchase chips for them -- this was actually done, and how a lot of people not directly involved with the project ended up with chips at cost, using their own risked and invested money.
#1 and #2 seem pretty unrealistic to me. #3 actually happened. And now, aside from a couple of flippers who bought merely for profiteering, nobody has 10,000 extra chips laying around that even could be raffled off, making the above suggestion pretty unrealistic.

I will front the 10k if I get a set at cost. Then you can raffle however many additional sets that buys to the community to pay me back.

That’s a very nice offer sir. Unfortunately it’s a couple years too late for it to be viable.

For those late-comers still trickling into the seats, here's a Nezara summary:

- Joined PCF on Jan 6.

- First post on Jan 13, buying Cleveland secondaries.

- Next three posts Jan 15-16, buying Cleveland secondaries.

- Fifth post Jan 17. First thread started, after deciding he needs to know what the difference is between primaries and secondaries.

- 17th post, Feb 16. "not feeling warmly welcomed" and alleging that GB members have been selling him junk. Started sending messages to GPI, with unknown GB-related content about another GB, and looking for "'well respected' non Aurora Star members [sic]" to assist him.

- 18th post, Feb 16, declaring his "personal beef ... with lack of transparency," and stating that "the first buy was probably questionable folks." After 41 days and 17 posts on PCF, still trying to organize "the 2nd group buy" directly with GPI.

- 19th post, Feb 16. Asking "Can the Aurora Star just place another order now that you don't have any fiscal liability...?", *after* he has communicated directly with GPI with unknown GB-related content.

- 20th post, Feb 16. Ignoring words of experience and wisdom from several long-time members and multiple group buy veterans, insists "Getting slightly off topic here. Let's focus only on the parts of the other buy related to a future buy."

- 22nd post, Feb 23. Finally decides to introduce himself to PCF. Name: Alex (coincidentally, the name of my last dog.) "Checking In from Houston .... I'm new here ... I bought ~850 Cleveland's [sic] for this purpose but realized after I bought them the difference between worn vs new chips." This mix of new and worn chips must be the "junk" sold to him by GB members.

- 26th post, Feb 25. "several sets auctioned with heavy price gouging ... How about offering "the community" 20+ set raffles at cost? If these can be ordered at cost..." Again, after communicating directly with GPI with unknown GB-related content.

- 34th post, Feb 26. "I will front the 10k if I get a set at cost. Then you can raffle however many additional sets that buys to the community to pay me back."

How can you not be impressed with a track record like that?

Good summarizing I suppose. A few questions/clarifications:

1) I have yet to make successful contact with GPI. I filled out their web form requesting information, emailed their sales department, and tried to contact a specific contact given to me but have not heard back. If I don't hear back this week I will give them a call. If there's something I shouldn't say please send me a PM with that info.

2) On the 20th post comment - What words of wisdom did I ignore?
- Summarizing the posts: Hello Troll; Ignore the whole thing and order via Gemco; Troll; In; Better luck next time; Find a specific sales rep; Contact name; Honey Tongued Devil; Confusion; Conversation Advice; Don't insult people; Insinuation of an inside deal with GPI; Don't buy junk; Don't be an ass; This comment's for you; Trending; Dull; Next buy will be more exclusive; No possibility of more group buys; Bump; Don't bump, Insult; Sad Face; Sell someone stuff; Bumps are ok; Troll; Old boy's club - not you; Argument buy offer; Wait for the next opportunity; Maybe money influenced GPI
- If I prune out all the ones that don't offer any sort of advice, I'm left with:
- Order via Gemco
- Don't mess up the next deal
- You won't be part of the next deal
- A large order might change GPI's mind
- What wisdom did I miss?

3) I'll walk back the junk comment, they are very nice chips that will be for sale soon. I will post them on eBay since new members can't sell stuff. I will post in the eBay/craiglist section for member awareness.

4) Why do you take issue with my username? Your name is pltrgyst, it seems equally relevant to poker/sunshine/rainbows as nezara? Just an online handle...

5) Just for visibility into other things I'm doing. I have reached out to several small casino's/card rooms to see if something could be worked out in terms of placing an order for a tournament set of 100,000 chips and provide said casino with additional compensation.

All I'm really trying to do here is order more chips, I don't understand why this is such a contentious issue.

That’s a very nice offer sir. Unfortunately it’s a couple years too late for it to be viable.

If there is a second "private" group buy - outside of my clearly floundering effort - the offer stands.
If there isn't a second "private" group buy would appreciate advice either public/private on how to be more successful with my effort.

If there's something I shouldn't say

YOU have to decide whether it’s beneficial to contact GPI. But ask yourself, “what am I trying to achieve?”

GPI works in deals worth many hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars.

If you’re looking to get a “deal” with them, your odds are pretty slim. But you’re completely within your rights to do so.

If your goal is trying to bring up the previous GB to GPI in order to tattle or use it as a “me too” moment, I’m not sure what that accomplishes.

I can’t be the only person perplexed at the notion of contacting GPI. However, If you manage to pull off some miracle GB, Ill tip my hat to you. And I’ll gladly bow out to let others take on the risk/reward

I have 0 interest in ruining the past group buy or implicating those individuals in any way. I was under impression that the notion of contacting GPI was exactly how the last group buy came about, so I was trying to duplicate that model.

If you are located in the USA and contact a sales rep outside the country, they will either ignore you, forward your inquiry to the US sales office (who will ignore you), or direct you to contact the US sales office (see above).

Pretty much all contact of any type from an individual gets ignored. Best shot at getting any chips at all is contacting Gemaco, who will direct you to a distributor in your area. But those guys can only sell the lammer mold promotional chips.

If you are wanting to purchase Paulson, Bud Jones, B&G, or Blue Chips, you're gonna have to get creative. Any direct inquiry that actually gets a response will be a resounding no.

I'm afraid it wasn't that simple. Nobody contacted GPI to arrange a group buy of chips for the home market. GPI does not sell chips to the home market. Period!

A GPI sales rep in a foreign country was contacted by an individual(s) representing a cruise ship wanting to purchase chips for their casino. The ship did not exist in reality, but much effort was expended creating the illusion that it was a real, operating cruise ship. Orders were placed with GPI to secure chips for the ship. These orders were carefully structured so that they would be consistent in quantity and breakdown with what a cruise ship would order. When the limit was reached as to what such a cruise ship would reasonably order, the illusion of a second cruise chip was created and additional orders were placed for that ship.

Drunk or not, you hit the nail on the head! I’ve been a member at CT and then here for almost 10 years. Was I disappointed this happened without my inclusion? Maybe a little, but at the same time I don’t even know for sure if I would have been able to join the GB. The only chips that interest me are them Empress Star tourney chips, and I haven’t devoted enough time to know where they fit in the different orders.

One thing I know I won’t do is burn any bridges, or make a big stink with those that were in. Who knows, it may be those very people I want something from someday. The folks acting out in some of these threads should be embarrassed, and are also contributing nothing positive to the forum.

What I’d like to see is more pics of the sets!

Fair enough. Technically more accurate, but doesn't alter the basic sequence of events.

Totally agree.

But with all the questions and desire for specifics going on lately, I figured it was best to be accurate on the details. People want to know how it was done, so some of those specifics should be made clear.

Funny, I just ordered this for this very purpose....

Oooh... let me know how you like it!

I've been thinking about getting a macro lens for my Canon, but haven't made that move yet -- I use my camera primarily for shooting my daughter's volleyball tournaments and, for some reason, it would be frowned upon if I were to get close enough to really use a macro lens to its full potential.

Yea... getting close enough to use a macro lens at a girl's volleyball tournament usually equates to some amount of prison time. :p

Business is good, let's create a 3rd cruise ship?

Business is good, let's create a 3rd cruise ship?

But seriously, it ain’t going to happen. Primarily because a forum member threatened the project and the organizer, by claiming they were (or already had) contacted GPI to rat out the GB effort.... (with a lot of members’ momey in limbo). they later claimed they didn’t really contact GPI. But the damage was done.

...which is why it seemed (on the face of it) in poor form to be running around saying “hey, I’m contacting GPI”.

Not sure if it matters anymore, but if you’re wondering why ppl were like “huh?”, there ya go. (y)

Jesus H. Tap-dancin' Christ, I feel like I'm going to go to prison just for reading that! I used to coach HS and college women's volleyball, and the idea of being accused of harrassment or worse always terrified me.
