I want to participate in a Broken Arrow group buy soon and I'm really having a hard time deciding what to get. I love a few of the predesigns, however I feel like the labels don't always jive with me. Most of the no label designs have nothing going on in the center and are kind of boring.

I like the Aurora Star tournament set colors a lot. If going with no labels, are center designs ever a thing? I can totally understand not having denominations on the chips can be a serious concern, however these are honestly more about visual creation than playability. Try to not hate on my basic design too bad.

I appreciate any help or feedback.

Thanks!!

Any consideration for going rouge but still incorporating a denom? You said yourself that denoms are a good thing.

Be flexible and free with your design and consider killing two birds with one stone.

Also, if you’re looking for a set and are going to go with Broken Arrow you’ll find it to be a great way to put some playable chips in your hands.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! If I can create/find the right combination, I do think I would be happier with denominations. It's just been a struggle finding that "right fit" so far. I'm going to play around with a custom label. I also am certain I'm over thinking it!

I’m struggling here - isn’t that by design?

Thanks for jumping in - trying to learn. I suppose so... Is it to avoid being too busy, or maybe anticipating someone's going to put a custom label? I feel like its a lot of chip real estate to "waste" with a solid color, when the edge area can receive so much love. I understand you don't want the original color of the chip to be overtaken by anything, but a label covers a lot and incorporates other colors at times also.

I think people usually are looking for one of two things with the Tina group buys, either they want something that resembles a compressed clay chip by getting hybrids with a label or getting a blank to put their own label on from Gear or Stickermule, or they want a completely custom look and do full face printing and go with a textured no-mold or cards mold (Or look at BR Bro or others for full face printed ceramics). I don't know for certain how it would turn out if you did full face printing on a "hybrid" type chip or if it's even possible (there may be injection points or something in the center that could look off without a label there). Maybe send a message to Justin or ask in the monthly group buy thread and I'm sure you'll get an answer.

In theory you could recreate the design you've made or something similar to be a label if you want a hybrid (and they can't do full face) and just don't care for any of the pre-made labels, though I know there are fees for custom labels that would make it more expensive vs if you went with cards mold.

I think your design is a cool concept, though I feel like if you're going to get custom chips you might as well put a denom on them (which you can still do with cards mold, no mold, BR Pro, etc) with minimal changes to your design. You just can't mock that up easily in Chipmatic since it was designed for hybrids. There are a handful of highly regarded designers on here that could help if you aren't versed in graphic design software.

Hope that helps!

Good Luck with your chip design ideas. There are so many options, that it is difficult to decide. I found that Justin (Broken Arrow) has so many options, that it was easy for my personal experience to pick one of his options. A good place to look for ideas is in his group buy options. Something, or a combo using a few of his designs might tickle your fancy.
There is nothing wrong with your design, but to me, I would need a denom on the chip to satisfy my attention to detail.
My Mirage no mold textured full face sublimated chips are both eye pleasing, and tastefully done for the denom font in my opinion.

Thanks so much for the reply. I think I need to just slow down lol. Going to continue to browse and get ideas and try not to rush things. Thanks again!
