Do people like leaded chips?
Sounds dangerous to handle, not that these chips looked filthy enough already.

Got my chips FAST!!! Ordered on Friday (Dec. 3rd) received them yesterday Monday (Dec. 06). So, I am new to PCF, just joined last week. Was looking online for a poker chip set for home games with buddies. I wanted a decent set that wouldn't break the bank (my wife was cringing at some of the chips I found.) Everywhere I looked pointed me to PCF for any and all chip information and education. I originally thought I could find a set on Amazon, but realized I probably couldn't get what I really wanted. After hours of reading about different chips and costs, I landed on Jim's Poker Chip Room Black Friday Sale post. I thought I was SOL because I just found it last week, well after Black Friday. Reached out to Jim and he still had the 1000 chip Majestic Star combo I wanted. So on a whim, I ordered them.

Here is my take on these as my first real poker chip set - Are they "bicycle tires"?...YES! Are they ABSOLUTLEY FILTHY?.....YES! Do they have a lot of "flea bites"?....DEFINITELY! Would a serious collector want these?.....Maybe not. DO I CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT???.........NOPE!!!! I am ecstatic to have these as my starter set, especially for the price. I couldn't touch these anywhere else for what I ended up paying. I have spent the better part of today cleaning 3-1/2 racks of $1s and they look really good compared to where they started. I still have 4 racks of $5s, 1-1/2 racks of $25s, and 1 rack of $100s to clean, but I can't wait for my next poker night. Thanks Jim. I have a feeling this new chip "obsession" has just seen the tip of the iceberg....

Any fellow europeans got their chips yet? Mine was sent december 2nd out of LA but still no sign of them.
It usually takes 7-14 days before there's an update after "leaving" LA, depending on available flights. Probably longer now with all the Christmas packages coming in.

First of all, welcome. I'm a months old member myself.

Next, you posted pr0n of your set. Excellent. Nice pics.

In glad you got a set, because they are all gone now! Have fun cleaning and using your set in your games. Make sure to brag to your friends about how they are "real" casino chips. They don't have to know that the casino was shutdown.

I was also warned about the chip obsession. I only have two sets of chips... That's not bad, right? Only two.

Congratulations; TCR is where lot of chipper started their journey ; I also had no problem using used chip. Actually I may prefer to buy them used as they are cheaper and I may had a harder time to put them in play if they are mint condition

I am a budgeted chipper; my sets are all generally build below $1/chip except for my used PCA which is at $1.45 average (popular leaded set so I had to allocate more budget for it)

U do realise 2 set mean about 1 set per month ;);) since u only join PCF slightly less than 3 months

2 sets within one month… yep, I’m just about there. Crap, it is true what they say!!!

Budget was a big factor for me in this first set. I’m thinking about changing the inlays, but not sure I want to go through that just yet. I need a low denomination set too, but don’t know if I want change this set or find another set too. It’s beginning to become a problem.

I may be wrong, but based on my experience with other leaded RHC chips I expect inlay removal may lean towards being more difficult.

Received my T40k and T200k sets over the weekend and just got around to getting them unpacked this evening. 800 chips and maybe 20 have flea bites except for one t25k that has a pretty good ding in the edge! Cleaned a few up with a brush and warm water/dawn and I’m excited to get to the rest later this week!

Leaded chips are the prestige and pinnacle of chips esp Paulson THC and TRK original leaded material. No you’ll be ok, just don’t crush and snort or dip in ranch and eat. What makes these special is RHC original leaded material was only produced for short time.

How used are the lower denoms? 100s, 500s and 1ks?
Definitely more used than the 5k and up, but I would still call them vg to excellent. Edges aren’t sharp but they’re still very square and a lot of visible crosshatching left. They’re dirtier than the higher denoms but it’s hard to capture in a photo being darker colored

I see. Could you stack a barrel of the different denoms next to each other to show off any height differences?

Edit: I just realized that I answered this post by not reading correctly. I thought they meant the height across a chip. My mistake. That's what happenes when you get old I guess.
I'll leave this info here in case it's useful for anyone else. Because damn, would you look at the lighting I used in that photo. It's just (chef's kiss).

The height difference is 39mm vs 43mm.

The "regular" size chip is 39mm.
Most casinos use "oversize" 43mm chips for higher denominations to make them even more distinctive.

Majestic Star 1k and 5k are "oversize." The rest are "regular."

I don't have any Majestic Star chips, but here is the difference with Jack casino chips.

What was the 1000 chip Majestic Star combo that you mentioned ? I did not see that as an option.

Indeed not what I asked, but appreciate the thorough response regardless and I'm sure it will be useful to some others. Keep in mind all the solid coloured tourney chips are actually even smaller with a 36mm diameter.

Here are some pics of barrel heights...all unwashed. I had to put a piece of paper between the chips and my table....still felt unsafe!

I wasn't fast enough to snag any 5ks, but here are the others. The 1Ks are a random unsorted barrel, $500s are unsorted, $100s are unsorted, $25s are sorted into 2 categories (Anniversary and non-Anniversary), $5s are sorted into 3 categories (baccarat, black font, red font+GO), $1s are unsorted.

Heights: 1ks > $100s > $500 > $25 (10th Anniversary) / $5 BACC / $1 > $5 (black text) > $25 (non-Anniversary) > $5 (red text + GO)
