Best deck of plastics (4 Viewers)

Wanted to give a review of the Bullets, as I know there was some previous talk about them. A group of guys I play with started using them several games ago, and they have worn and faded worse than any other deck I’ve played with. The black dye of the clubs and spades has almost become unreadable. Just a heads up in case anyone was thinking of buying them.
@Dix runs the RedNeck Poker Card Database. Send him a PM see if he will update it with your results

I don't know where you got that information - maybe modiano made different versions of texas poker? But they are different stocks.

Where did I get that?.... umm.... from Jason himself. He stated as much right here on PCF sometime ago. :D

Also, any difference in feel could come from a difference in the finish coating & not necessarily the base stock.

Any premium deck of cards are not simply printed on a base stock, cut & shipped out (like it shows in an old "How It's Made" TV show episode available on YouTube) . If they did, that ink wouldn't last very long. So there has to be a finish coat applied. It's a multiple step process. There may even be an intermediate coating applied to the base stock before printing to help with ink adhesion. How thick you lay on the coating, & number of them, will effect the thickness & may or may not effect the stiffness to a certain degree. Depending on the composition of that coating(s).

Also when it comes to Acetate cards in particular, the age & amount of use the deck has will play a larger role in how that deck feels over time. Acetate tends to change in feel over time more than PVC.

I know for sure that Modiano used at least 3 different stocks of cellulose acetate, one for Platinium line, one for Texas, one for Cristallos
Desjgn made of Modiano remind me of Cristallos

More than that, I have 4 listed in the database. TxPoker, Platinum, DaVinci, & the stock they used for Guild, which is the thickest & stiffest Acetate deck known to exist at this point.

Oh shit. Those cards of mine are cristallos

LOL..... oops..... Hey, don't feel bad.... been there.... done that.... got the t-shirt. :D

I don't have Cristallos (not a fan of 4-pip) but they could be on the DaVinci stock, if not the same as Platinum. They may only use 2 (or 3) for their own branded decks, but for custom orders they obviously have other options.

& finally, when it comes to Modiano specifically. In my testing I've noticed that they seem to have somewhat "looser" tolerances than other manufacturers. The thickness & flex from deck to deck, even within the same line, varies a few ten-thousandths more than most other brands. This isn't a knock on 'em really, as you'd never know that unless you started measuring to the degree that I use in my measurements & testing. You can't feel it. But, it is a measurable variance.

But yea, anyway, the old stock Desjgn & Modiano's Texas Poker line are the same stuff. Even though the database shows Desjgns being slightly thicker & stiffer, the difference isn't something I could pick out blindfolded. Probably just Modiano's normal manufacturing tolerances.

A good place for that would be to add a post to the thread I use for my reviews, which is the original database topic.... https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/the-redneck-poker-card-database.52229/page-4

Or.... the actual discussion topic for the new database... https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/the-redneck-poker-card-database-2-0.56305/

If you notice, the texture coating of Bullets is only on the backs not the faces. Just random spit-balling speculation on my part, but, it's possible they were applying the textured coating as a final step of the process & found that it effected the look/readability of the faces & decided then to just texture the backs. If they're wearing off quickly, that likely means there's no finish coating applied to the faces after the printing process. This is something more common in cheaper decks.

One way around this (a method I suspect used by DalNegro, Faded Spade, etc) if you're going to have a more textured finish, is to apply the texture coating before printing, & then apply a thin plain clearcoat as a final step afterward. Naturally, this makes your printing process somewhat more complex, finicky & costly, but, your print will hold up better over time.

A good spot for any review would be the Cards Review thread (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/cards-review.3776/).

That was my experience with them as well. Unlike the Modiano PAs aor Da Vincis, they streaked instead of faded.

Wow, that's surprising for such an expensive setup of cards.

I do remember Ginza... Lots of whisky and red bean filling donuts

Hardly possible... This looks like an inside job in one of the casinos
It's happened before. You just need to find a friendly rep, it's not like GPI, where they completely shut out all non-casinos, but it's not a cakewalk either.
The guy found them in a toy shop in Tokyo. Any chance we can deal with the toy shop?

Toy shop in Ginza could be expensive. Let's just wait what @JCM_ will say.
Could be much ado about nothing

@Phyffe found them in a toy shop, and I'm not sure what type they are, they could be the paper cards, however, no clue where @JCM_ got his from. If the toy shop is selling the plastic cards, then we could try to deal with them.

Exactly the same packaging and color as what JCM posted, but not Jumbos. You can see it in the pic above. Middle row, on the left. Was there March 2018.

I never said it should be our first option, but let's be real here. People on this site have been clamoring for Angels longer than I have been a member and have had ZERO success. It may be expensive, and it should be our last resort, but it is an option.

Angel better than Kem... Bold statement..
But how did you get them, any relatives in casino perhaps...
Never mind, I would like some of those.
I love KEM but its will warp , cards is a kind of game tools not art , It bothers me to have to be taken care of every time , so I said Angel better than KEM.
BTW about the CLUB ANGEL its hard to get. According to my estimate, it would be very expensive to ship it to US.
I got these cards for more than $50 in CHINA . If you want to get some I can try to help you but the cost will be very high and it will take a long time .

These are Angel 100% plastic its different than CLUB ANGEL . CLBU ANGEL looks like bicycle paper cards but its some kind of plastic.
The Angel has a smooth surface they are also very soft , soft than COPAG.
