It’s that time of year here again, we’ve had a wet year (think Pacific Northwest) and the mushrooms are blowing up everywhere! Here’s some pics from yesterday and today.

The chanterelles are huge this year! Some like a head of broccoli! The boletes haven’t started yet but it’s looking good for some large ones!

Looks like the remnants of a fairy ring. When conditions are right one mushroom will drop its spores in a perfect circle under it. This continues through generations and the “ring” grows because they keep dropping spores in a circle. The edges grow new mushrooms while the older center mushrooms die

Hell yeah!!! You can’t eat those I don’t think, but people cure some of those shelf ones into a leather and make stuff out of that.

So should I dry and smoke this? A red with white spotted one showed up 2 years ago. I was contemplating an Alice in Wonderland moment.
