My initial thought is anything advertised by the poker vloggers I’d be pretty skeptical about it, especially the wolfgangs and rampages of the world. Most poker player stereotypes are hustlers of some time type with questionable ethics/morals, so they’d happily sell you $x,xxxx amount. Doesn’t mean that course is actually worth it though, it’s just the premium they think they can extract.
Wolfgang is popular because of his edited shorts, not because he’s a crusher.
I’ve considered it on and off, but I play so infrequently and at relatively small stakes it doesn’t make sense for me.
I watch quite a lot on youtube, so I’d recommend starting there first since there’s so much content, and find some folk that talk through the why of their action, pros/cons etc. I’m at the point where I can generally say what their recommended next step should be and I’m roughly right on bet/fold/raise amount etc.
I like hungryhorse, jonathan little, and blackrain79poker. Brad Owen is entertaining for me to watch since he does a good job talking through his thinking on his hands without obnoxious extra graphics, and also shows his loses. I like some of Charlie Carrel’s video’s, but ultimately they are just an advert for his poker coaching course, and lots of his ‘secrets’ are only available if you pay, and then according to reddit there’s even more paywalls within the course to get the ‘ultra ultra secret live tells tips’ etc.
If you want to do it, pick a course suited to your stakes, I think Jonathan Little does small stakes, and Phil Galfond also offers coaching.
Anyway, good luck - do your research (2+2 or reddit will give insight if it’s worth it) - but if you play for fun, I’d say stick to the free stuff or buy a few books will be much cheaper.
