I know we've all complained about missing live poker, and (half) joked about online being rigged, but is anybody leery of going back to playing live poker?

Here are some of my concerns:
  • I'm going to have determine my own hand ranking myself. I won't be shown that I somehow backdoored into a straight on the river.
  • I'm going to have to keep track of the total pot so I can bet 1/2 pot, pot, etc.
  • I can't multi-task anymore, like watching porn.
  • I can't fart/burp/etc when I want.
  • I will feel obligated to talk to people.
Of course, I'm joking here...mostly, lol.

I 'll miss the automatic calculation of betting half or 2/3 of the pot.
Otherwise, online is so fast that the winning hand just flashes for a moment, and often I can't figure out what that was:D
Burping and even farting, as well as smoking without paper involved, are most welcome in my place.

My win rate went up much higher when I started the 'display in BB' on Pokerstars. Much easier to predict others play and very hand having it dynamically change when blinds change.

I can divide by X, but I find doing this in my head at the table much harder (any math really likely due to the fact that I treat poker a recreational time and consume appropriately).

It has shown me that i do need to keep doing the conversion when I go back to live play.

couple weeks back i was playing poker with my family, i seem to run pretty hot when i play with my family (today we played and i near enough stacked my brother with nearly the james bond hand:
:5s::6s: vs :as::qd:
:4s::ah::8s::7s::7d:

this is the first time ive hit a straight flush in live poker (yeah.. im young)

aside from that which i felt i had to mention, it was my bb and with Q7 suited in a limped pot against my brother
i took a stab on the flop, another stab on the turn, and decided to bomb the river. the flop was awful for me but i knew my brother only had a 1 pair hand at best. I bombed the river for about 80% pot and my dad said, "who's got the queen?" and i was thinking what on earth does he mean?
little did i realise i drilled my gutshot

so uhh, i guess it's gonna take some getting used to again. my excuse there being i didnt check my cards a second time and my dad was playing really loud music.

though, i can't wait to see my friends again, except the part where against my friends i run super cold and seem to only pick up about a hand an hour o_O

I was definitely excited about going back to play live poker in the casino, but when I went to cash out some chips from precovid times yesterday, it was pretty bad.

People with masks down and full tables of black Jack without screens. At least 8/9 people at the blackjack table with masks in improperly.

I’m not judging anyone for their decisions cause it’s not up to me, but it’s not a risk I’m currently willing to take. Not worth it for me. I can wait and continue to play online until this situation is more controlled.

I play 3-4 times a week live at my bar/friend's house. I just can't wait til I convince some friends to go with me to the casino for the first time. Thats the only thing i'm nervous about doing live, moving up in stakes that I am not used to :bigbucks:

At one meet up I hit a straight flush twice in the same hand
what did you have/what was the board?

ive seen someone lose with a straight flush online to another straight flush but online schmonline

Don't recall, there's a pic here in one of our local meetup threads.

IIRC had an OESF draw, no way I was folding. Up against an obvs made flush with 3 of the suit(clubs?) out there by the turn. Got it all in, ran it twice and hit the high end on one river, the low end on the other.

Think I only had 1 club. Better to be lucky than good sometimes lol

You forgot to mention that you're expected to wear acceptable clothing and shoes. No more playing in your jammies!

I posted a thread a few months ago, when I realized I couldn’t remember how to peek at my cards.
So yeah.

I've gotten used to playing while running on the treadmill, showering, walking the dog, changing baby’s diapers, and emptying the dishwasher.

Learning to check raise while picking up dog poop was a level 5 achievement for me.

I've lost all pot counting skills and will have a hard time not shouting “fooold” when I make big bluffs.

But yeah, I still can't wait to play live.

After consistent hands like this online over the course of three successive tournaments, I can't wait to get back to live poker. #FuckOnline #OnlineIsntRealPokerAnyway

Cripes, I'macrazyfish is true to the name. That's an, um, interesting call to make UTG.
Call? He raised it UTG, Hahah! He was raising very, very loose all night, so when AQ came up I just shoved pre, hoping he'd have something like AJ or A10 and call. Clearly, his calling range is a lot wider.

I forgot to mention the potential biggest reason...number of hand per hour.

Are you going to be bored only playing 20-30 hands per hour versus 50-60 hand per hour online?
