Any interest in an NCAA Lax Bracket? (5 Viewers)

Never played Lax myself but went to Mt Hebron High school in Ellicott City in the late 90s when it was the epicenter of the lax world. 2nd stringers got full rides to ivy leagues and such.....
Similar Boat; I went to Calvert Hall. At my time, we were a big feeder to Brown. After my time, UNC was where most of the recruits went.
I was also friends with the kids from Friends in Baltimore, including Kyle Harrison, who was a Tewaaraton Award winner at JHU.

Maryland and Long Island have always been the cradles of lacrosse talent/scholarships, but it's been expanding over the last 10-20 years. Since the Big Ten and Big East (the new Catholic version) officially recognized it, the club/JV teams at most major Universities will probably go Varsity soon.

There are only two D1 programs in the state, to my knowledge... Michigan and UD-Mercy. A couple years ago, UDM made the NCAA tournament and we drove down to Notre Dame to watch them play. They hung for the first half, but ND just crushed them after half time.

We do have the MCLA national champion in the state, however, in East Lansing. They were an NCAA team until 1997; now it's just a club team, doing their own fundraising.

I have a two friends that played D1 (Maryland & Georgetown) and the pro leagues. But as I stated earlier wasn’t in my town so never played in a league. Would toss the ball and practice face offs with my cousin who played (went D3 and lost in the National finals one year).

tl;dr we need (2?) more degenerate gamblers
Long story and early morning short; there is an intelligent version of the NCAA lax bracket to be played at some point, as it's a ridiculously awesome game. But, for this year, we just need a couple more people to buy lottery tickets.

I played through high school in DE, which is minor league compared to md and long island. I actually played in the state all star game my senior year. Maybe could have made a DIII team, but stayed home at UD due to laziness. Played with the club team for a hot second as a freshman, but in my infinite 18 year old wisdom, decided I would rather get stoned and hang out with my girlfriend, so that stopped. Now I coach my oldest sons 2028 travel team. Middle one plays baseball, and the youngest started the 3-4 soft stick program this year.

I love the game, but unlike hockey, beer leagues are tougher because you have to be in shape to play. Because I can skate, I can get by with being fat for hockey. Having good hands and being really slow gets me nowhere with lacrosse.

Played from elementary school through college when I had to stop playing for medical reasons. Transitioned to reffing and coaching to stay involved in the sport.

I’ll join @MoeTremper on his hill - it’s the best sport ever. I miss playing, but I LOVE coaching. Tons of fun.

My dad never was exposed to the sport until I played....now he’s a NCAA referee because he liked it so much .

I just went over this thread. I'm not sure why but I've never been a big fan of these type of gambles, flips etc. You will rarely see me join in. Must just be my tightwad nature or something. I don't even participate in high hand jackpots at our home games, and y'all know how often I straddle. Sorry to be the nit in the room but good luck to everyone!

Nit  :ROFLMAO:

Though funnily enough I don't gamble other than at poker. I blame these lot for encouraging me

Is there any way to find out more detail about what they have done or what they currently do as a charity? (other than their mission statement)

i just googled lacrosse charity and I’d heard of step up so I thought they’d be a potential fit.

I’m sure we could email them or something l, but probably shouldn’t put the cart before the horse as they only have a 1/16 chance of winning.

Would hate to get their hopes up for $20 worth of equity

U.S. Lacrosse made a donation to Trey's lacrosse team. It allowed them to buy matching helmets for the team and equipment for those just starting the sport.

If I win, I'll kick half my winnings back to U.S. Lacrosse.

If the charity wins first or second in this bracket, I'll throw up a poll to determine who the money will go to.

I drive by US lacrosse on my way to work each morning. They have a swank new headquarters.
