Thanks @Pinball , I get what you are saying about 3-color chips, but the 100 spot pattern gets too busy very easily. Also, I don't want to use the same exact colors twice (the above would duplicate White and Lemon).

There’s just not enough contrast for my liking between Scarlet and Black (the spot pattern I use is more unforgiving) and again Lemon would be duplicated.

I changed a few colors and requested a mock-up from Matsui, as their color codes are a better match (the below ones are from the chip designer). So an official Matsui mock-up will give a better idea about how these colors work together, meanwhile here is what I asked for.

Yes, that last one is a 50mm golden dealer chip!

EDIT: The 1's outer spots are wrong, but that won't affect what I'm looking to achieve at this point.

Just a note for myself, since it'll be about a week before I am able to work on these again... After looking at the color samples from across the room, Hot Pink on the 500 doesn't pop as well as the colors on the other chips, but changing it to Maroon works nicely. (y) :thumbsup:

What are you thinking the design on the 50mm golden button would be? I would just like the dragon and no words.

The golden DB / specialty chip will need to have the exact same decal design as all the other chips, or there would be another setup fee. I can change the colors and background glitter (or no glitter) for free and I have some ideas, but will need to create the decal design and decide on the decal colors for the actual chips first.

Got the Matsui mock-up really fast this time! Maybe too fast, as there's something weird going on with the 500... But we can ignore that for now. I haven't calibrated my monitor yet, so I can't really say how accurate these are compared to actual chips (I did get the thingamabob for it yesterday, might have time tomorrow). I should be getting sample chips with base colors of Vermillion and Orange soon as well, so I can properly compare the two.

I like the Orange 5 better and I would like the hot pink to be brighter on the 500

Yeah Hot Pink on the 500 doesn't pop, I will ask the next mock-up with Maroon instead. Hot Pink isn't really a true red+white pink, but rather red+purple+white, so Maroon will pretty much be a darker version of it.

Nah, I’m not really a fan of Matsui plaques. And the dragon design is 100% geared towards a glitter decal anyway.

Something special that has not been done in probably 10 years are the matsui gold coins. Not sure of this design would work but just a thought.

Yeah we discussed the gold coins via PM, and I have been thinking about it. I owned one Zen coin back when I had a cash Zen set, but they are really heavy, and having metal they could potentially damage the plastic chips in play. I also don’t think any of the gold coin designs really complement the other chips well.

I think the only thing I could be interested in would be a 2k plaque from Abbiati with all the bells and whistles (lunettes, gold lace, etc.), provided the dragon design could be used in a nice way.

After calibrating my monitor, I can confirm the mock-up from Matsui seems to have pretty accurate colors. For sure much better than on their chip designer anyway.

I also got a bunch of older chip samples. Some colors are very different from what Matsui offers today, others are closer but not quite the same... It's probably best to rely on a combination of the color kit / newest samples / Matsui mock-up when figuring out which colors to use.

For the 5 we will use the Orange base. I am quite pleased with all the base and inner ring colors, just need to fix the 500. We'll see how Maroon works in the mock-up, I only have the color kit version of it (a bit dark, but looks really nice in sunlight). (y) :thumbsup:

I filled the centers with the base color, so any glitter/white in there wouldn't affect how the chips look... What would you change, or ship it?

I think could improve the 500 by changing the base from Purple to Ultramarine. It's a bit more blue but also more intense, should better match Maroon which would make the chip look nicer as a whole. (y) :thumbsup:

EDIT: Also, considering Day-Glo Orange to replace Orange on the 5 to give a bit more contrast for the inner ring design...

Yeah will request from Matsui as I don’t have proper color codes for either. Day-Glo Orange is very close to Orange, just a bit more red.

Wasn't happy with the Maroon in the Matsui mock-up I got, it's too brown for my liking (the color code I used for my mock-ups was also from Matsui, but several years old). Trying out a new angle with the 500 (3rd color Aquamarine) and slight tweaks for the 5 and 100 base colors (Day-Glo Orange and Stone Grey), requested a mock-up of those.

I tried a few things out and these are probably the final colors. I'll still take a closer look at which pink to use, but likely this one.

ND: Violet / Blush
1: Light Blue / Cobalt Blue
5: Orange / Lemon
25: Lawn Green / Light Green / Scarlet
100: Battleship Grey / Black / Mandarin Orange
500: Purple / White / Aquamarine

I might still change the 500’s base to Ultramarine, such a great color... It would pop more next to the grey hundo because it’s a darker and deeper color than Purple. The downside is that Ultramarine is also more blue, making it closer to the chip’s third color Aquamarine. In a vacuum I’d take Ultramarine over Purple though...

I would also choose ultramarine!
