That was then.
I think recent events have changed how people on this board approach "tribute" chip sets and their design.
Just sayin'... Tribute sets with artwork closely matching live racks have just gone the way of the Dodo.
What events are those?

You're dead wrong on this one -- that decision is not up to Sal/OWPS. It is extremely unlikely that using the GCOP artwork ever gets authorized for hybrids or ceramics beyond what has already been approved. And if you really want them, OWPS has these. I'm sure he'd be able to do some lower denom on hybrids for $1/chip using that label art.

well i think i have the answer
some china companies don't seem to have any issues with counterfeiting chips.

If one were to spend the time to find them, there are many Chinese vendors who do not care about copyright or trademark issues or the possibility of litigation. However, that doesn't mean we can use them in a GB. As a side note, I wonder if any individual has experimented with these vendors.
Yes. There was a low-minimum quantity (3000 chips, I think) semi-custom set made for a private CT member on the coffee & biscuit mold (a MrEU design). He paid a hefty premium to get such a low number of chips produced, but it sparked considerable interest in the community.I wonder if any individual has experimented with these vendors.
I would like to point out, those Alibaba vendors use stock photos of genuine chips to sell cheaply made chips. Don't be fooled.
And one using the Majestic orange for the 5c. But remember, the idea here was to use the colors from WSOP chips - not any favorite chip from the universe.

Because of the WSOP component or what?
Because of the WSOP component or what?
So what about the China Clay horseshoe chips, also dead?
Maybe it's time we just come up with a new fantasy set?
Everyone liked the WSOP edge spots right? Why not do a chip set using the same design and we just pick and choose our own colors? I think its cheaper to manufacture if the edge spots remain the same across denoms right?
Custom labels are expensive considering the price of the chip.
Yeah but 70c for 1penny china clays is hard to justify.
