2025 WLW is so good (and oaky - it tastes more like a ryed bourbon than a wheater). Definitely not a a typical WLW profile.

This is a new favorite of mine. Can't believe how good it is at the $50 price point!
It’s so so good. Never had another one so can’t compare but it’s certainly one of the best whiskies I’ve ever had.
Frustratingly good cause it’s stupid expensive. I get a lot of tastes I associate with “the old country” - caramelized orange, apricot, and a very smooth oakiness. I know that’s totally not what they say the notes are but I get this strong dark candied fruit thing.
The Handy was the real surprise. A tad too sweet for me but like a pastry. Like cinnamon rolly.

Popped a rare and controversial bottle. For fRYEday
A few things I’ve tried lately that get a high mark from me:
Wireworks “Alter Ego” - Sherry’d English malt, packed with flavor and velvety salty toffee.
Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength - lots of caramel, fruit, and a pinch of wood fire smoke (not like Ardbeg peat)
Springbank 12 cask strength - a different speed than the others. Doesn’t drink like the more common Springbank 10, and has a dozen different notes for a complex dram to mull over. Still has the characteristic Campbeltown funk. This isn’t playing card whisky!
