I think it’s great! Black is my go to casino pour and I’ve only had Blue once, but I think this one here is as good, if not better. The 51% abv is what intrigued me most when I saw it. Bright and fruity with a nice long spicy finish. Highly recommend!
 
Found a couple of almost dusties this afternoon. These two have the same bottle date/code (18/10/2022) as the one I picked up almost 2 years ago. Even crazier part is the last one I got was purchased almost 200 miles away across the state.

Those are great value 15 years old for sure. Great stuff...

One thing that always strikes me when I drink those (I try to always have one of those open), is that one would never guess it's a 43% abv. It drinks much higher than that, in a good way. It doesn't leave you wanting more, like many other low proofers...

It's pretty tasty. I like the bp bourbon more than the rye. I got a couple pours into this rye bottle and picked up a mint note, then I couldn't untaste it every time I drink it. I may replace the bottle at some point, but won't go out of my way for it.

I have an opened 2020 Bookers, not sure which, that I enjoy. I have an unopened Donohoe's batch waiting for the right moment. I have no others because I don't trust them for the price. Even my Costco wants $100 for a Bookers, they have a variety on the shelf, and they all just sit there.
 
I will enjoy the coming era of whiskey where the crap brands and poor quality / overpriced juice will get called out for what they are and disappear. I won't enjoy the lives affected as weaker distilleries and brands close shop. Companies will have to innovate, or age things more at a given price. My local mega store has discontinued several lines and put a ton of things on clearance, mostly whiskey, and a bit of tequila. They see what's coming.

Bingo, same here. I bought one in early 2024 and it was the last one I will buy without a ringing endorsement again.

As a Texan I may be biased, but it's my favorite easily available cask strength rye. I think it's better than Willett 4 year and about equal to Barrel Seagrass at $30 a bottle cheaper. ($85 vs $55 here in Texas)
 
Does anybody here have thoughts on the woodford DOUBLE DOUBLE oak? Doesn't seem worth it, even at a rock bottom Costco price, which I can get it for.

I’ve been curious to get a bottle cause I don’t hate the regular oaked and I’ve heard good things but concluded I’d buy it for half the rock bottom price.

90 proof highly oaked NAS*? I get the process adds a lot of base production cost but it doesn’t sound worth paying for here to me.

*yes I know it’s “likely” 7-9 years, which is nothing to scoff at, but we can be a little snobby when a bottle gets this expensive

I like it, but I very fond of oaky whiskey. I paid MSRP plus shipping which I wouldn't do again. I would pay $100 for another...

Tried a sample of it. It's oak-y. Pun intended. Was not impressed. Would not buy for $120 or whatever the MSRP is.

I think it's like $160 or $180. I want to say my Costco is around $150. Bottles are starting to get dusty. In a down market, the perceived least value bottles will sit there. The Booker's and the Woodford Masters special bottles sit there.
