Haha the stockings always had apples and oranges in them and surprisingly the fruit bowl was empty Christmas morning. Santa ate the old fruit and left us new!!!!

But it was the same for everybody. Even the parents that could buy didn’t. It was just too small of a community and even if you were more affluent you didn’t flaunt it. Mindset was you lived within your means and the means of your community.

Different time and place for sure.

Looking through the Sears and Montgomery Wards catalogues for weeks before Christmas was always better than the presents I actually got. We would imagine all kinds of playtime’s, different toys and what we would do, and then Christmas morning get our new clothes and a yoyo or something.
