Because it’s an exact copy of a mold that’s been in use for at least 60 years and is currently licensed or owned by CPC and was used for the actual Mapes chips. You can say knockoff if you want; I’m comfortable with stolen.

His listing is like 10 chips with a BIN for cheap. And his clearly says not a real chip unlike the chip and cat listing. before I ordered my set I checked for any trade mark or patent on that mold cause i read all the hub ub and didn't want any trouble. There is no trade mark on the small crown mold or patent of any kind but I keep reading that CPC owns the rights, doesn't seem to be the case.

You do know that IP protections can apply and be enforced even if nothing is “on file“, right?
