I was you. But I think I've started the slide to singles collecting. I'm slightly scared.Yup! That’s me. I think collecting is weird. But I’ve seen headlines that suggest that it’s an expression of the human condition, so what do I know?

I think this is a fantastic point.
But…not everyone here is a “collector”. A not small number of folks are here because they enjoy hosting and want to host better - which includes better chips. I think that was my biggest gap in understanding - the number of folks here that collect poker chips and how opposite our motive/reasoning/chipping is.
You pay a premium (often huge) for clay chips. You pay somebody to mill them well (or buy the tools to hack them apart yourself,) then you pay for labels.
And then you have to put all the labels on… In my case nearly 3,000 of them.
And then you have to put all the labels on… In my case nearly 3,000 of them.
3080 for my roulette sets alone.
Taking them off, whole other story. Haunts me, still. Idk if I’ll ever do it again.Putting labels on isn’t bad at all…
Depends on YOUR expectations and desires, could be you're in the $1.50 range with relabels or $3 range with RHC.Or maybe the controversial part is spending 2/3rds of a cost of a BR chip on stickers instead of just getting an actual BR chip.
I don't think there's any question that the continuous buying and selling is an addictive part of the hobby for some, myself included. Though, in my opinion, not the intentional primary point of the hobby. But more so, an inevitable outcome of never ending set attempts and ideas.Starting to get the sense that many chippers find the continuous buying and selling to be primary point of the hobby, rather than the chips themselves. Not judging, just an observation.
It’s like a 2:1 thing, you buy two sets and sell one it seems.Starting to get the sense that many chippers find the continuous buying and selling to be primary point of the hobby, rather than the chips themselves. Not judging, just an observation.
My, man! Agree. If I were to be buying sets I wouldn't be selling either. I don't understand buying sets just to own them a while and then sell them. If I'm buying it is for keeps. Alas, I can't buy sets, the wife will divorce me (she already threatened that in front of young children after the CPC customs order). Trying singles collecting instead... should see the vesuvian rage on her face every time a package arrives. Sets... are too dangerous. What is this concept of 'selling sets' that you speak of?
Because it’s more fun when your ”sample set” is a playable setI don't understand buying sets just to own them a while and then sell them.

Ah, hell. Didn't think of it that way. Doomed.Singles seems more dangerous! Volume of packages increases!
Better to get your own PO Box. They hold it there until you pick it up.Ah, hell. Didn't think of it that way.

FYP. So do some of you guys actually sell chips? Talk to @detroitdad . I think he has the best plan of them all. A couple of "keeper" sets, and other sets that are "for a limited time only". No matter what game you go to, you know you are in for an epic set - and you don't want to miss too many nights because that set you love may be gone by the next game. All for the price of shipping (give or take a few $ for market flux). My, man! Agree. If I were to be buying sets I wouldn't be selling either. If I wasn't married to a collector, it's exactly what I would have done.
As a non-seller I think the trick is to have several sets that you can rotate, that way you don't get bored of a set, sell it, and regret it later. I have about 6 MTT sets, a few STT sets, and 6-7 cash sets and think I've got the perfect amount to rotate and not get bored of.My, man! Agree. In most case, one is buying a set that is an upgrade of the set that he is selling so it makes a lot of sense to sellIf I were to be buying sets I wouldn't be selling either.
I'm not sure what that spot patter is - is it a 313, 314, or a tri-moon? They're kinda dainty like TRK spots.New controversy: The WSOP chips don't suck.

Is there a pic anywhere of the entire lineup? I do like these a lot! I can't read the yellow. I assume it's T1000?New controversy: The WSOP chips don't suck.
