I really hate how HSP occasionally shows us the stack sizes, but doesn't give any indication of who's up or down, nor by how much. "Boaty McBoatface is the chip leader with almost $800k!" Who cares, how much did he buy in for? Is he down $200k on $1M, or is he up $600k from $200k? That could/would make a huge difference to how he's going to play, but they don't give us that info properly.

Great episode! I was thinking the same the regarding WW and the phone but don’t have the editing skills of @jr8719  :ROFLMAO:

Really like watching DN play these days and Garrett in beast mode as usual. Durrrr and Ivey are pretty meh, especially the latter. Good thing Tilly found the check back button.

So, watching it back, I realize they try to make each episode seem like it’s a new day, but they’re just edits of parts of a day.

The first 3 episodes I’m in were somewhat-in-sequence hands across 1 day (I think I was seat 7 or 8). My total buy-in for that day was $150,000, bought once.

The next 3 episodes I’m in were somewhat-in-sequence hands across my 2nd day of play, ending with the most recent episode. My total buy in for that day was $250,000, bought once. I’m in seat 5.

The upcoming 3 episodes I believe cover my final day of play, I think I’m in either seat 6 or 7. My total buy-in for that day was $250,000, bought once.

The reason the stacks move up and down so weirdly is because they skip tons of hands where people either make money back or add-on, or lose. It’s definitely a bit confusing.

Totally agree with this and it’s surprising they don’t recognize this since it is, in fact, a cash game with actual high stakes. It’s “their own money” as they clearly point out so whether a player is up or down and by how much seems an obvious fact that should be communicated.
I might even say it’s not just frustrating that they don’t provide that insight, but rather it’s a obvious miss that really reduces the quality of the show.

Agree that it was another great episode. This season started really slowly, but the current table lineup has seen it pick up momentum really quickly; good mix of personalities and playing styles.

I haven’t watched them yet, but I think they could still flash up a quick (added $100K) in the graphics for the next hand televises after the buy-in to somewhat help (obvs doesn’t apply to WW, but to others perhaps).

Even if they treated each episode as an individual session, they could show the starting stacks at the beginning.

But, why not acknowledge that they’re showing the hilights of a long jam session over multiple episodes and do a quick recap at the start of episodes 2 & 3? Might make things more enjoyable. I’m sure there are a few tweaks they could do to make it less confusing and get people more into the session.

I do like how Hustler occasionally shows the total up/down page. It shouldn’t impact the enjoyment of individual hands, but it provides some sense of grounding and perspective and makes long sessions more enjoyable as a whole (especially as I piecemeal them over days).

Doug Polk just had a podcast where he talked to Greg Merson about what had become of televised poker, especially the high roller PokerGo stuff. Shot clocks have funnily enough caused a lot of players to take the full 30 seconds on every decision, which has actually caused them to get even less hands in per level. And furthermore, the ICM wizards make the end game of tournaments very boring as every tries outfold each other.

Cash games are a bit better though, especially when you have a good mix of pros and amateurs.

I agree they should communicate how everyone is doing on the day and how that impacts the mental/emotional state of each player. However, knowing the stack sizes is absolutely essential in how the hand plays.

This.^^^

It is totally annoying you have no idea who is up and who is down.

They still think they’re making the show for the casual viewer and not actual poker players. Exhibit A: the cash bricks
Exhibit B: the commentators

If they are making the show for casual viewers why did they put it on poker go, a subscription service that caters only to die hard poker fans? And are they aware that poker go competes with free live streams by Hustler, LATB and Texas rooms?

Also, they seem to miss that hands themselves are no longer the story. Whop de do kings against aces what a cooler. The meta game is the real story ie who is steaming and taking it to the streets. Which players have history with each other, and so on. That’s the interesting thing that draws in viewers. There needs to be a story.

Still waiting for Krish sessions to be over so I can unsubscribe to poker go

Checked out some other content that was recommended, but was tourneys sadly

Re allocated my budget to YouTube premium.
Better poker content

@CraigT78 we NEED @bergs and @Josh Kifer to serve as commentators for Degen in Dallas. Put that sh*t on PCFGo

We demand Hole cams and full use of colorful language during the broadcast.
And here we have WindWaker making his trademark fushcia bet. Let's see how green blue Brian reacts. I'm thinking he has a brown response though blaze orange isn't out of the question.

I'm calling each player by the table spot and the word "Idiot" in front...

Idiot 3 has raised on the button. Moron 5 has called.

Trust me you want me playing if you want colorful, not commentating.

“Berg finishes off his 4th pitcher of margaritas and repots on this King four deuce rainbow flop. Everyone calls, and we go to the draw phase where Berg leads us off by taking 5 cards while commenting ‘I never looked at the first 5 but nobody else did either so I have reverse implied draw equity’”. Nobody laughs as Matt takes 2 cards, Krish takes 2, and Hornet is patting. On the Queen of Hearts turn — it looks like Berg is trying to say something but he’s also trying to win a prop bet with players from the next table over where he has to fit an entire Big Mac in his mouth. We’ll wait for him to — wait, it looks he’s repotted and is now not-so-quietly asking what game they’re playing. He’s a canny wily one this Berg.

Matt appears to be repotting but is also missing a card in his hand, and Krish is feverishly typing on his phone. Hornet calls and looks very annoyed - probably because this hand started 39 minutes ago.

As Krish ponders a call Matt appears to ask if it’s high low and says ‘Oh Dear’”.

This is why we need more live streams at meetups. @Tommy can sponsor if you put a PCF logo in the lower right corner, right?
