I’m Joe from Germany, 38 years old.

About 20 years ago (yeah… time flies 😄) I used to be active over on Chiptalk. Back then I played a lot, built up my own home game, and—like many of you—fell deep into the chip rabbit hole.

Over time, the poker round dissolved, life happened, priorities shifted… you know how it goes. I’ve barely played for almost 20 years.

What never really left though was the love for chips. I even had my own ASM set with custom labels back then. Always dreamed of a “real” high-quality set, but as a student that just wasn’t in the cards. Same story with the table—had to get rid of it when my childhood room changed, but I’ve been holding onto materials for a new one ever since. My wife has been telling me to sell everything for about 10 years now… and I’ve been telling her for 10 years that I’ll build a new table “soon.”

This year is finally the year.

Now that a new group is starting to play regularly again, I’m planning to build the table and put together a proper new set. I’ve always loved the South Point Casino chips, and of course the classics from Rounders—who didn’t? I also pretty much memorized every episode of High Stakes Poker back then (are those guys even still playing? 😄).

Right now I’m thinking about ordering a nice, large Tina small/medium stakes set. I’m a graphic designer, so the design part is definitely something I’m looking forward to.

Anyway—that’s me.

Happy to be back and ready to dive deep into the rabbit hole again.

Cheers,
Joe

Hey Joe,
if your budget allows it you can get nice Paulsons in the marketplace section.
With some luck and patience you can build your set of dreams!
Or budget friendly going the Tina way.
But only clay chips feel like clay chips.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes i know. Had a set of Casino Paulsons back then but sold it. Still love my asm chips but i can not spend that much money on chips. Thank you for welcoming me!

How many of you degens clicked this thread to see if there was 20 year old loot to prey on?

Sorry if I built up expectations and then crushed them right away haha

Hey Joe, your story is similar to mine. I was active on CT back then too. Welcome.

Welcome back. Pics of your ASM set please!

I’ll post some pics after my vacation — nothing fancy yet, just blanks with super thin vinyl stickers.

Thinking about drilling them and doing proper inlays/labels.

Any tips or recommendations would be awesome!

What mold? Search "milling" services here. There are also people that can provide hot stamping.

Horsehead mold. Not big on hot stamping, but the service definitely sounds interesting since I’m not super handy.
