I’m Joe from Germany, 38 years old.
About 20 years ago (yeah… time flies
) I used to be active over on Chiptalk. Back then I played a lot, built up my own home game, and—like many of you—fell deep into the chip rabbit hole.
Over time, the poker round dissolved, life happened, priorities shifted… you know how it goes. I’ve barely played for almost 20 years.
What never really left though was the love for chips. I even had my own ASM set with custom labels back then. Always dreamed of a “real” high-quality set, but as a student that just wasn’t in the cards. Same story with the table—had to get rid of it when my childhood room changed, but I’ve been holding onto materials for a new one ever since. My wife has been telling me to sell everything for about 10 years now… and I’ve been telling her for 10 years that I’ll build a new table “soon.”
This year is finally the year.
Now that a new group is starting to play regularly again, I’m planning to build the table and put together a proper new set. I’ve always loved the South Point Casino chips, and of course the classics from Rounders—who didn’t? I also pretty much memorized every episode of High Stakes Poker back then (are those guys even still playing?
).
Right now I’m thinking about ordering a nice, large Tina small/medium stakes set. I’m a graphic designer, so the design part is definitely something I’m looking forward to.
Anyway—that’s me.
Happy to be back and ready to dive deep into the rabbit hole again.
Cheers,
Joe
