The Canoe Club-Tournament Set (CPC) (1 Viewer)

What a wonderful set. i mean every chip in this set does something for me. That light blue $100 is my favorite, its rare I say that about a light blue base chip but that one is sensational
Thank you for the kind words! I can't wait to see your large crown set sometime very soon!

This thread illustrates the beauty of customs and what is liked and not liked is in the eye of the beholder. You and a handful of my local guys tabbed the T100 as one of their favorites. I love the whole set and how it came out, but personally, the T100's are not at the top of my list as one of my favorites. If CPC ever comes out with a blue that's in between light blue and DG Peacock, like a horizon blue that Paulson offers, I'd remake this chip. The light blue on this chip is more on the grayer side than I thought it would be.

The $1000 chip is sensational. I find all chips done extremely well except if I had to pick one, would be the 25K chip, it’s the top chip but only has 2 colors, but all comes down to personal preference. BUT, beautiful set !!

I did my best to have the set colors move through the seasons, with the T5, T25, and T100 representing spring and summer, and the blurple, DG Peach, and charcoal chips representing fall, with the T25K representing winter.

This holds true for tournament progression too. Spring colors where everything is bright and new. Then the fall where everything is starting to become more colorful, and finally the winter where everything is snowy and white.

Wow  I didn’t thought of this at all lol, you put things in a whole new perspective.
But it’s true actually now that I’m thinking.

Well here in the Netherlands it’s always raining and cold. I guess my custom set will consist of a lot of grey and white LOL.
We don’t have summer around here

So here's the thing about sample sets.

I have a cash set with the same "Canoe Club" theme in the works that I plan on placing the order on next year, maybe 6 to 9 months from now depending on how things go. That order is going to be on the smaller side, maybe 700 or so chips plus extras, just a single table set that can cover a variety of stakes. 200 each fracs and $1's, 250ish $5's, and 50 or so $25's. Four different denominations.

Doing sample sets for this set would add seven different, unique chips to the order for a total of eleven unique chips. A T5, T25, T100, T500, T1000, T5000, and T25000. Per CPC and David's rules, the order would have to be at least 1100 chips for the order to go through (average 100 of each denomination). I was already planning on doing a small add on of this set. Initially I was only going to do 40 or so more T1000's, as I know that I'm a bit light on those at 120 only, even if the intent is to be able cover two 8 player tables. If I add 60 T1000's, 40 each T25's and T100's, and 20 more T500's to give the set a complete two tables of 10 players capability, that would be 860 chips. If my math is correct, that would entail needing to order 240 more chips for the order to go through. That would require at least 35 folks interested in sample sets. Attainable? Yes, I think, but I'm not so sure. I'll put up an interest thread at the end of the year and if the numbers work and there's sufficient interest, we'll do it. I'd take payment ahead of time and shipping expenses to be paid upon receipt of the chips and being mailed out. I'd also ask for a couple of volunteers to be regional re-shippers. For example, I'd ask one EU member to take all EU orders and distribute to receive from a re-shipper of theirs.

Hi,
your set looks really amazing! Have fun with it.
I'm in for a sample set.
It would be great if you could also offer samples from your future cash set.I would definitely be interested.
Advantage: you could significantly reduce the number of people (35 -> 22) or make more people happy.

Wow, must have missed this when you originally posted it but this is an incredible looking tournament set. Well done!

I came back to this thread initially to provide an update regarding samples.

In short, those that want samples are unfortunately going to have to wait for a long while longer than initially thought. Without getting into too much detail, life happened and now I have a baby girl, along with my toddler. I knew that she was coming, and that she would need to go to day care as soon as my wife's leave is up, but I had been counting somewhat on the baby's grandparents to be able to provide child care a couple of days a week for the baby so she doesn't have to go to day care five days a week.

Unfortunately, my grandmother is getting older and has declined physically and mentally quite a bit in the past year, and my parents have been tied up with her as of late. Because of this, they aren't going to be able to provide any kind of coverage for our girl. With the cost of day care in my part of the country and having to pay for five days a week for two kids instead of two or three days a week for the baby, you can do the math. Money's going to be tight until 2023 when my oldest can go to public kindergarten, and even then, we'll still be on the hook for some aftercare as my wife and I both work full time and won't be able to pick him up at school at dismissal time.

With this, although I would be happy to do it, CPC won't do an order of a couple of barrels of each denomination just for samples, even if it was 100% funded by those that want them. I was initially going to order more of this as an add on for a cash set with the same theme, but that project and a couple of others I had in the works are going to have to wait until I can clear some funds up or bink the lottery. I'm really sorry everyone.

TLDR: I won't have the funds to take on any more chipping projects including CPC orders for the next long while starting next spring-ish. No samples for a long time, if at all.

Secondaries? One day maybe...

The Story: Growing up, I lived in a town in which a river runs through and divided the two sides of town. Around the corner from my childhood home, there still stands a small log cabin sitting on the river bank that has been a canoe rental business since before I was born called (Hometown name redacted) Canoe Club. For many generations, those that lived in my hometown and the towns surrounding took advantage and rented out the canoes, and as of just a few years ago, kayaks as well from Memorial Day onward throughout the warm months of summer until it was too cold to be out on the water. This place has been a mainstay in the community for more than the past 100 years. It was one of my favorite places growing up as a kid to go to. It was a rite of passage to be able to take a couple of canoes out with friends without supervision of parents and successfully be able to tip each other over into the dirty green/brown water of the river. This was of course in the days before everyone carried a cell phone on them at all times, so it was all in good fun. Some of my fondest memories from my childhood with my friends and family of going out onto the river on the canoes and kayaks are associated with this place.

To this day, I try to get out on the water with a kayak as much as I possibly can. It’s my go to activity whenever there’s a large open body of water around. There’s something relaxing to me about being out on the water with just the sounds of nature but otherwise being left to just your own thoughts. There’s peace and quiet with none of the peripheral noise usually encountered in daily life. Having a full-time job and family doesn’t make it feasible for me to own my own kayak or canoe, but one day, part of my ideal retirement is to be living close to a body of water to be able to get out there as much as I can to splash some water with the paddles and oars in addition to splashing pots, to be left to my own thoughts and enjoying only what is around me.

If you don’t know me by now, all of my customs and relabel projects in this hobby all have a significantly deep personal significance to them. This set is no different. This set is an homage and a reminder of those care free days going out on the water with friends and family. In designing this set, I tried to incorporate colors going through the active canoeing and kayaking seasons, from the greens and blues of spring, to the yellow/green of summer, to the oranges, reds, and pinks of the fall of the end of the season. @timinater was awesome to work with and was very patient in putting up with my fickle, yet picky self, but at the end of the day, it as well worth the work and thought put in. I can’t wait to get these onto the felt and to share the game action shots with the community here. I want to thank all of those whom I bounced ideas off of, sought counsel with, and helped make this set come to life. You all know who you are!

Yep these are fucking bad ass. Great backstory, well thought out design. Look awesome

Went a little nuts with these, but the PSA is the same.

Careful of "chip-fishing" out there folks. The OP of my set reveals always have untouched photos that aren't edited at all. Messing around with the Prisma app distorts things, but my goodness do the chips look nice.

Well done, I see a lot of influences from other chips.

I have another project in the works due out next year. Only one chip that I drew an exterior influence from. Otherwise completely my own original work. I'm eager to see how it comes out!

Holy hell these are absolutely stunning! AND I used to live a couple blocks from where your picture is taken and said canoe club. My brother rocks an old school canoe club t-shirt regularly.

Sooooo how do I get in a game with these on the table???

Shoot me a PM in the morning with your number and I'll add you to my mailing list! Did you go to CHS? I can't believe we didn't cross paths at any point.

I lived there as an adult and my brother did as well. Loved the town but I've moved back down to Princeton area nowadays.

Just for fun, this is what I'd have done if I had the full Paulson color and spot options available to me
