Don't blame Canadians for PayPal fees (2 Viewers)

Just some recent payments I've made. I get charged fees all the time. I didn't blame the American seller for these and call then shady. It's what PayPal charges. I don't see fees Americans pay when I receive payment. I only see what PayPal sends.

This is on top of the fucked up exchange rate we Canadians pay if we use credit card or bank account to pay.

What I did try to relay is that an American advised me he was going to be charged additional fees if he tried sending me CAD.

And I tried to relay my personal experience that it usually was between $2 and $5 to send funds.

I'm not on anyone's "side" here, but that $5 surcharge for any international transaction has been the standard, dating back to at least two years ago when I joined this site, no matter the actual transaction amount.

So you were aware that PayPal to Canada incurred fees?

If so, how was OP hiding it? Why not say beforehand, "Hey, there's gonna be a $5 PayPal fee, I'm not eating that. Will you reduce your price by $5?"
Thats what I was doing. Alerting him that I thought there might be a fee based in past experience. Of course he doesn’t put that part of the email in.

But he had “ no idea” PayPal charged fees!

I got upset because I suspected PayPal would charge me more. I asked him to confirm. He replied he didn’t know what PayPal does, even though he obviously knows something about it. That’s what upset me, the dodge. Just be upfront.

Knock it of with logic please, we only allow bullshit in this thread.

What a fantastic morning. Slept well, had a good breakfast, and now enjoying a coffee...
Oh, and then there is this thread.

Why is this even spilling over to the forum? Are there false accusations being made publicly somewhere? (wouldn't be the first time if there was.)
I just wanted to get this out the open.

The guy slandered all Canadians as being sneaky fucks.

Thought this could serve as a PSA that surprisingly, PayPal does in fact charge fees to senders.

Obviously you can't intervene because of your bias in this case Tommy. Let me fix that for you:

;) :wtf:

I'll see myself out.........

Read post 4. Snapshot of what I wrote you. I was being upfront of what I see when I pay. I have no visibility on what people pay when they send me funds.

And I was relaying what a recent buyer advised. If he sent CAD it would be more than if he sent USD.

There is a lot we can blame Canadians for: responsible gun ownership, delicious poutine, Terrence & Phillip, etc... but PayPal fees ain’t one of them.

For the trifecta of :eyerolls:, all we need now is for someone to post laughably over-saturated pics of their chips. Again and again.

Well it’s a good thing Americans are never generalized. The rest of the world is too mature for that.
I would never generalize any population of being like you. You're very unique.

And you wonder why many people put you on ignore. I still won't do that, as I have actually enjoyed some of your posts.

I actually thought we were on good terms since we've exchanged pleasant PMs in the past. And as you can surmise, pretty pissed off you thought I was being underhanded because of $5 fee.

I’m personally waiting for @Anthony Martino to weigh in before I cast my ballot in this International Court of Online Justice. I suspect a high likelihood of someone getting referred to the Swift Discipline Committee.

So far it’s a tough call for. $5 is a lot of money in these Covid times. While I have known about these fees for many years, I’ve also suspected that all Canadians are shifty naredowells just waiting to pounce and probably invade portions of Maine or Michigan. That’s really the wall we should be building!

@Tommy stirring the pot with the Dunkin pic. We all know Canadians drink Tim Hortons.

Edit. @Irish beat me to it.

Do I have to pay a fee?

Post our whole PM exchange. I've posted what was written before your accusation.

I was upfront of what I see when I pay. And what another US member advised between CAD and USD fees.

Quit making up shit that I was hiding anything.

Look, I can be a hard guy. I know it. I can be abrupt and brash. I think people here should treat each other honestly in deals, especially given how things are right now. I’m not going to mince words or be passive when we are not.

Those filthy, beady-eyed, flip-top headed canadians can't be trusted, and that's a fact!

US-eh! US-eh! US-eh!

I'll say it again too.

$5
^ No jokes in serious thread.

Afaik, it's pretty common knowledge that PayPal charges $4.95 extra for every international transfer. It's even listed on their website, and it appears before you finalize the transaction.

I certainly don't advise asking random sneaky Canadians what fees are charged by an American company for international transactions.
