Vegas Food, Spa, and Show suggestions (1 Viewer)

When going to the Spa, @Mrs Poker Zombie strongly prefers Qua at Caesars. She's tried a few others but Qua wins every time.

PZ is right. Qua wins hands down. When he's been planning a trip to Vegas, my question is often "How far of a walk will that be to/from Qua?" Plus, at $400 for the spa, you can do a lot. Honestly, I've never walked out of there feeling I should have picked a different service. Let me know if your wife wants more info or heads up about going there.

Buddies want to check out the "high roller" at the linq. Is there any secret to getting a discount on riding this thing?

BBQ at Ellis Island. Get a players card and you can print a coupon at the kiosk for a buck or two off. It is a brew pub too and their beer is great. You want the BBQ at the back by the sportsbook not the main restaurant. It is a block off the strip behind Ballys and an easy walk.

Not to bash anyone, but only to provide another viewpoint. I found Batista's very ordinary, though I guess cheap for the amount of food you get and if you drink enough of the included house wine, I guess it wouldn't matter. Earl of Sandwich, also very ordinary and nothing special over your typical Subway.

+1 on Hash House. Portions are huge and you may even wish to split a plate and pay the $2 split fee. Also although many items are available all day, check the menus because later in the day, prices rise. Also takes Total Rewards comps.

+1 on Burgr in PH and also Le Burger in the concourse btwn Ballys and Paris. I've eaten at Burgr on the last two trips and it's stunning and the beer selection extensive. Either also takes Total Rewards comps and provides discounts with the player's card.

Best show in Vegas is Absinthe. Small theatre, very intimate, same stunning acts as a Cirque on a smaller stage. Open seating, so arrive early and sit next to the stage. R-rated humour. It's been running a few years so prices are falling and deals can be had for this show if you look around.

Sorry, but you should go on a marble hunt if you think Earl of Sandwich is "very ordinary and nothing special over your typical Subway". I can't imagine anyone eating there and having those words come out of their mouth. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and say that you are confusing this place with somewhere else. Earl of Sandwich is epic! I can understand if you don't like Battista's, but Earl's? You're committing a sin with that criticism! This is blasphemy my friend. BLASPHEMY! Repent!:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

The BBQ at Ellis Island?... I guess we have different tastes. I love a good BBQ. I seek them out. This might be the worst BBQ place I've ever eaten at. Their beer is alright, and the staff is cool (I love Filipinos - I married one). But the food is mediocre at best IMO.

I'll back you up on Hash House a Go Go though. Good breakfast for sure. Just make sure you're hungry when you go in!

Find me a sandwich place with better reviews than this... :) Maybe IKE's in San Francisco. That's the only other place I've been to that can compete. The two are actually somewhat similar though...

Going to definitely try this especially since it's in the hotel I am staying at. I am pretty sure I ate there at my bachelor party but I was too intoxicated to remember...

Good question... will let you know if I find any discounts. My wife and I are going at some point.

Awesome. I will check this out. Going to play some poker while my wife is at the spa :).

@Mrs Poker Zombie is there a specific package you prefer?

Not really, they are all pretty awesome.

I encourage going at least 2 hours in advance of the treatment and taking advantage of all the different rooms and the tea room. I personally love the heated lounge chairs and the snow room.

I totally recommend adding a Reflexology Upgrade and Shirodhara Scalp Upgrade to any treatment. The first is a 20-minute foot massage. The second is a 20-minute scalp treatment and massage.

Last year I had the Morning Dew treatment with both upgrades. My skin felt wonderful as did all my muscles.

Awesome suggestion zombies! The place looks amazing on pics and a lot of good reviews. I think my wife will be very happy.

Thanks guys for the awesome suggestions. My wife really liked Qua. So much that I easily got in 4 hours of poker. I got to play with some fellow chippers and donk off some chips to @Trihonda who is a great player.

Overall amazing vacation with my wife and I even made a little money :).

Some pics.

Nice work! Glad you had fun. Planet Hollywood is one of my favorite places to stay. I think it's the best value on the strip for my preferences. Looks like a great trip! :D

Niceshot was one of the nicest people I met in Vegas. I'm really glad we had a chance to meet up while he was spoiling his wife with a spa session.

I'm glad we met up at the PH poker room. It was conveniently located right next to food (which proved important, and allowed me to attempt a "muffin straddle" after a visit to the Earl of Sandwhich located 20 feet from our table). The crowd was a mix of solid players, and a steady stream of those who came wearing shiny bright "conference" name badges (then left shortly after donating their chips).

I hadn't a clue as to what to expect from NiceShot's poker game, but he is an awesome player (I just got very lucky). He did mention my play wasn't as he'd expected from reading my contributions to strat threads, lol. (remind me to never post in those again, lol).

@NiceShot That room looks amazing. I just priced out the rooms at PH for our couple's trip in Feb. What category was that? I'm gonna have to splurge I think :)

Since NiceShot's focus was wife-centric for the trip, we can excuse his neglecting to post the usual obligatory chip pics. Here are some chip stack pics from the session. I like the chips, but they are well used.

I hope you used your players card to also compare prices. Monday and Sunday were comped, Saturday was I think 50 to 80. Then I did a suite upgrade with view of the bellagio for 50 bucks per day. It was worth it. I had a hot soak in that giant tub with the amazing view every day. I also booked far in advance when they were offering promos so prices are likely very different for feb.

Also, take advantage of the concierge and making reservations even if it's 15 mins before. Always ask for best table or if there is one. No reason to wait if you don't have to plus sometimes you get offers or comped night club entry.

@NiceShot We are back in Vegas again, this time for my wife trip. We are staying at Ballys (only because a buddy could get our room 100% comped. The room is nice, but not compared to your room at PH. The focus is def on wifey type stuff, but after my wife went to bed last night, I hit up some poker at the LINQ (primarily to meet up with Internet blogging sensation TheTrooper97, who deals at the LINQ). People were literally giving away reed money there.

Note to the drunk dufus... when you flash your bottom cards at everyone, and the floor makes you show the exposed 4 of clubs, and I'm up against you with TP ok kicker, and there's no flush, pair or str possibilities that involve a 4c, I am 100% ahead. When you continue to bet into me, I'm calling. :). Actually I raised, lol.

Nice! Hey free is good. Hope you guys are having a blast. If you go to nove italiano and tell them it's your birthday I think you get a comped ghost bar entry. The view from the top is amazing.

Grats on finding drunk fish! I will need to check that place out. Never been inside. Didn't even realize they have a poker room. I will be back in vegas for wsop June 1 to 9th if you decide on another trip :).

OMG' just took down a monster three-way all in.. Late at night (sat) playing Ballys 1/2.

On the button with suited 56. BB Bets $7 total pre, 5 call, imcluding me. Five to the flop of 234r. Orig raiser bets out $20, one other caller, I call. Turn is an A, original raiser bets $40, one caller, I flat. Turn is a 10 brick, I have the nuts. Original raiser bets $50, other guy calls, I shove for like $130 total. I get two calls. Woot...

Lol, as this isn't a gambol trip whatsoever. Saw a funny show today, "Zombie Burlesque". Not sure what other shows we are hitting up? Did burgr at PH, and during the (1 hour) wait for the table, I had a nice session on a 1/2 table that paid for dinner for all four of us.

Scored some free high roller tix and will hit that up tomorrow.

I really appreciate threads like this that give such great first hand knowledge of the Vegas area.

Nice! Yeah bet it if you have it at most tables in vegas. Someone will call .

March should be a fish frenzy of frat boys. Glad the poker is going good.

Here is a pic of the new Ballys chips. I love their chips but they've always been worn crazy. They restocked, and half the chips are minty, sharp mint. Fun. Took an obligatory pic a couple orbits after my big pot. I gave some action back to the table, lost a few chips, but left shortly after this pic was taken.
