WSOP Chip Usage History - 2022 Paris/Bally's Primary Paulsons

After nearly two decades at the Rio, the WSOP finally changed venues again in 2022. This time, branded as being held by the conglomerate Caesars Entertainment, the world famous poker series was now split between the Paris and legendary Bally's casino with planned rebrands to come.

Unlike in previous years at the Rio where management would typically keep sets together, the three bracelet sets were used together and mixed and matched in seemingly random situations along with other rarely seen chips also ordered for the events. This was likely implemented to prevent cheating. Despite this, the 2022 WSOP was not without a few cheating scandals involving chips.

These chips have been labeled as the primary chips because they are the set used for the WSOP Main Event in 2022.

NOTE - Colors are currently for information only and are not implying official Paulson/GPI colors.

Are the same sets used by WSOP year after year or do these ever hit the market?

Nevada gaming commission mandates all retired sets be destroyed if no longer in circulation. I'm not sure what the wsop rules are I would imagine they too would opt for them to be destroyed for security purposes.
I've never seen any of the wsop chips hit the market in quantity. Only singles that people pocket, which I think is also a no no but folks sometimes manage to get a few out every year

To clarify the other half of that question - I don't know if they would use the same set every year Seems like security wise they couldn't but I don't know if they don't change the venue

For a 10k+ buy-in I'd say a new set of chips would be chump change each year. For the satellites and qualifiers a few versions that could be swapped out would make sense that could probably cover a few tournies. Starting stacks and colour up chips would only be a fractional percentage of the buy in cost for each player easily covered in part of the admin fee.

The elusive 500K Pink is back for the 10K PLO.

Updated pic is the best I have gotten so far.
