WSOP Chip Usage History – 2012 Rio Secondary Bud Jones

Although introduced in 2012, these chips didn’t hit the felt for a bracelet event until 2014. The use of these chips were heavily limited only being seen six times at the WSOP through 2018. In 2019 these chips saw far more play, being used in 12 tournaments, twice as many as in all previous years combined.

They replaced the 2005 Bud Jones primary set in the $500 Casino Employees Only event in 2014 and again at the $565 Casino Employees Only event in 2017 - 2019. They were also used at the 2017 $365 NLHE Giant and the 2018 $365 PLO Giant and $365 NLHE Giant.

Although not technically part of the set, the 2005 Lavender Bud Jones primary chips are usually used with these chips instead of the 5k Dark Gray. These chips were probably used as satellite chips before being called up to the bracelet events. They are still used at satellite events as recent as 2019.

The following chip uses apply to bracelet events only.
