Will Kassouf... (1 Viewer)

I think his behavior is somewhat obnoxious. But if that is what gets the other players at your table on tilt then so be it. No rules state that you can't be obnoxious.
Rule 40 says you must be civil and courteous

Rule 48 mentions etiquette violations and explicitly calls out both delay of game and excessive chatter

It is against the rules to be obnoxious.

That's exactly the kind of reaction a guy like Kassouf wants though.

Rather just call the clock every single time and smile ear to ear while doing it. :)
I know, but I wouldn’t be able to hold it in 😅

You would think that venues would be flocking towards implementing shot clocks years ago across the board to finish tournaments in a faster fashion. This very well could be the incident that galvanizes the shift towards that.

Though paying for scores of tablets just to keep a stopwatch on poker players isn't exactly an easy sell to casino executives.

It would probably be nice to get tournaments done sooner, but I can't imagine casinos would want to cross this line when they can already set tournaments up to finish in about x hours via the blind schedule and starting stacks. To force players to act quickly every single time would be an obvious detriment to the game, not to mention the expense and resourcing required to enforce it. It might even be a loss on cost alone.

Like I said above, even in Koussef's case with just one affected player, it's pretty ridiculous for someone to have to count him down every hand. It's like a store having to divert an employee from his usual duties just to spend all day closely monitoring known thieves. Just stop letting them in the store. Their presence is a net negative, just like Koussef's.

Maybe someone should tell him to check his privilege?
I have a question!
I remember that and I remember thinking the Canadian kid who said that was a total moron. But in retrospect, I’m wonder if he said that before or after Kassouf called? Because IF he said it before Kassouf called, maybe he was just trying to say whatever he could induce the call?

It was before the call, but it was AA over KK - no doubt a shove.

It was after someone called the clock on WK

Kassouf didn't call, he's the one who went all in.

But the kid didn't necessarily know that. Kassouf could have had any number of hands in that spot. IMO, he was absolutely trying to act tilted to induce Kassouf to reraise all in, and it worked gloriously.

and it worked gloriously
Well... it was AA vs KK, so I wouldn't say that he induced anything, meaning it didn't "work" in that sense. The chips were going in regardless.

But I get your point, that he may have been trying to act tilted ect. But he could have chosen a less dorky phrase. 😉

"Check your privilege" is the Canadian version of "Go fuck yourself"

This clip is what I remember and he behaved more reasonably. “Nice hand” and handshakes after he busts instead of the “you’re pathetic pussies and bitches” and whatever that absurd intimidation tactic is to stare everyone down one by one after you’ve busted

Anyone able to find the old one where he was fighting the floor? Floor said stop talking and he switches to the animated sign language?

That one is the one where he said "nine high like a boss".

I played in a pokerstars event here in London quite some years ago now, at the Hippodrome Casino.

WK was there, on the table next to me, but I never played on the same table as him. He also busted out quite early.

He wasn't rude or obnoxious at that tournament from what I could see, although he frequently got up to talk to his friend at another table which meant he would brush past myself and the players next to me.

I honestly think he behaves at his worst when he knows there are cameras around. Like he is trying to be the new upstart villain in poker. He makes me cringe - he is trying way too hard to be the new bad guy.

As a Brit myself, rest assured he truly does not represent my country on the felt. His behavior is appalling.

The WSOP's biggest mistake was not disqualifying him much sooner. If I said half the things he said, especially to the tournament officials, I'd have been bounced by day two.

Kassouf wants to whine about unfair treatment, but the fact that he was allowed to complete the tournament at all is preferential treatment in *his* favor.
This is spot on. It seemed like Jack Effel was willing to disqualify him from the main event, but the multiple floor guys were not. Will knew he could get away with his behavior due to the inconsistency from Jack and his staff.
