What's missing here? (3 Viewers)

It was frustrating to see the informants that sat in the game with a folder of all of our statements and hand them off to the detective and leave the court room smirking all the way. Essentially those statements were handled as an admission of guilt.
^^^ New #1 thing someone can do to make sure they are never invited back.

OP, rightfully so, posted this possibly out of anger, disgust, despair, etc., and we (brothers in hobby or interest) spent a large portion of seven pages decrying that something was awry in the story and events. Turns out some snotty children informed on what was described as a pretty friendly and public poker game.

Whether there was a tidbit of cash on the table or an occasional unvetted invite, I still feel for everyone there. After all that BS, to have to stand in a municipal setting is frightening and angering beyond belief.

Idk him or have ever seen him, but the man’s a damn flush here. We’ve had fundraisers for some more dire circumstances than this before, but we’ve also had them for much less. @daschuck77 if you can get me contact for OP via PM, I’m gonna throw a little bit out there for auction. If I lost every poker thing I had through theft, my own issue, fire, flood or whatever, I’d hope for a positive response.

Everyone else please stay tuned!

So all of us had our day yesterday in Virginia Beach General District court but just those charged with Class 3 Misdemenaor for Illegal Gambling.** OP has date in end of January.

First of all, I cannot believe how many people do not dress appropriately for court. Their livelihood, and lives could be at stake. Camouflage Hoodies, Halter tops, see though crap, etc. were all on display. My wife dressed me so luckily I avoided a potential debacle. I hate courtrooms, they are an unfamiliar and adversarial place.

First of all my lawyer and another's no-showed! Mine was stuck in traffic court downstairs. Myself and three others were able to get a continuance to February so a Commonwealth Attorney can assist the Detectives w/their case. I am hopeful that this is where the lawyer will pay off as the other defense attorneys can meet with prosecution ahead of the court date and hopefully work on a good result.

Three other people faced the judge and lead detective in the case.

One pled guilty and pled no contest. The other was Guilty in Absentia.

Both the other individuals were found guilty and ordered to pay $100 fine plus fees. Court fees were an additional $100.

It would be a shame if one of those informants tripped and broke his jaw or his leg.
Shit like that happens to douchebags...... In the movies of course.:sneaky:
Good luck to you in February, hope you paid enough to your lawyer so he can split it up with the commonwealth attorney, the detectives and the judge.

So for the people who went to court and a judgement was issued, or the people who have representation and got a continuance, what is the “gotcha” that they have??

Completely understand if no one can comment still, or just doesn’t want to, but if you can I’m very curious.

If there are guilty charges being handed down what is it they are guilty of? I understand the charge, but what do they have about the game that makes it illegal under that statute ? Now that a judge has spoken that has to be out in the open for those people, right?

What a shit situation. Many feels for many a people that have been affected by all this, court sucks.

I don't think we're gonna get a ton of details here for the moment, but just know that at this point, it truly is a travesty beyond poker or chips

Yeah that’s definitely understandable, would almost expect that for how heavy all this seems.

Good luck all.

Was OP advised not to use to forum? Just curious... noticed he hasnt posted here or much anywhere else.. not criticizing in anyway just wondering if the legal defense recommend him not to have continuation here for a bit? (Dont see how this site could deem further evidence, but I guess it is possible)

Also, sorry to hear your lawyer missed the trial time. It's really sad that you all are still going through this... such a shame. Hope things level out soon
could just have a sour taste in his mouth, I know i would. I got a DUI in college, went from drinking every day to straight sober over night for 60+ days after spending the night in jail. Could be a similar mind set

From my research on it. ( I live close and played at this game some and I had the same questions.) it seems the law (which is written very vague) says 1. No rake/profit 2. No dealing (because tips are considered profit and maybe an organizer) 3. It states the game can’t have an organizer. (They state someone who collects money, advertises the game or oversees the game) Which to me is crap because how are you gonna have a game without someone doing that?!? And if you’re doing any of those things then the game can be considered illegal gambling and they can charge everyone playing and can add on a bunch of other charges like conducting illegal gambling in your house or property and knowing illegal gambling was taking place on your property.
In my opinion after reading the laws and talking to a local detective in my town I get the feeling the laws are written vague on purpose so that the police and city can interpret them how they want and worry about it in court. After they have done the damage of raiding a game.
I’ve been in this area my whole life and have never heard of a non raked game getting busted... Ever. And I’ve only heard of a few raked (and sketchy) games getting busted. Meanwhile there are tons of raked games out there that everyone knows about and they’re still running strong, but they bust one of the best, safest, cleanest non raked games in the area??? I hope we find out the reason this happened so we can move past it. I find it hard to believe the police went through all the planning, months of informants going to games, and a swat team to bust a game over dealer tips!

Tis a valid point as well!

Quick story...I sold a 1995 Toyota Corrolla with 100k miles in 2002 to a silver tongued 'buddy' of mine for $2000 because his junk ass Saab died.. He was down on luck, just got laid off from a sales job, but promised (fooled) me in his sales lingo that he would pay me for the car. I wrote up a promissory note that he signed to pay me in full for the car within 2 months of me signing over the title. He paid me $1500 within 2 weeks and then he dropped off all radar never answering emails or phone calls after the 2 months expired. Found out he moved to Atlanta. I felt like a sucker, told myself shame on me, let it go, and hopefully the universe will take care of it.

So this was back in the MySpace days and it turns out I found him, he had a post that his entire apartment complex burned to the ground and he lost everything. I ripped up the promissory note still sad for the guy's continued misfortune but felt wholeheartedly satisfied of his debt.

Even though I don't know their real names, these guys all have done a number on my friends so I hope somehow someway they get their comeuppance as well. Whatever the universe deems fair.

The universe works in mysterious ways at times.

@brains613, I just saw this thread. I definitely didn’t wish this on you, but isn’t crazy how that Karma lady came around?? In case you aren’t aware, I still haven’t forgotten the stunts you pulled on me. You can rest assured I won’t be contributing a penny to whatever anyone might be planning to help you out.

Just let it go, man. The bitterness is a reflection on you, not him. Let karma sort it out, and go in peace.

Don’t you think Karma did some sorting?? Again, I didn’t wish this on him for one second, but the irony in reading some of what has been posted makes me laugh a little. I hoped everyone else on here doesn’t get duped the way he duped me. As I said, I won’t be contributing.

Link to drama please :)

Great for a PM, not worthy of a public post. I’m not attacking you, just providing outside perspective. In no way did this add value to the thread or for any other readers. The most you possibly did was invite questions from others and of course attention for OP and yourself.

Add to that that public comments like this devalue what others like myself try and do with charity auctions. Personally, I don’t appreciate it when, literally without ever knowing the guy or having an interaction, I put up auctions, refer back to this thread, and people see this.

The only reason this is public and not a PM, is because I ask you and anyone else to rethink this. Idc if someone didn’t send chips or got me in a transaction, when I see families and homes hurt beyond the poker table, I’m inclined to give. Grab a broader perspective, and know that if you’re in a bind, it may not be much but I’ll do what I can.

All this PM stuff is garbage. If other people would share stuff more publicly, maybe others wouldn't get scammed. I don't want good hearted people contributing to something they might not be aware of. If anyone has questions, they can feel free to PM me.

I also find your post about not making this public not much of a surprise after what you pulled on a few us in the Outpost buy. People can PM me about that if they want to as well.

What you said had literally no potatoes. If you’d like to make note of previous sketchy behavior, do so in a meaningful way.

And as for my horrible ill gotten actions, please link threads. Let people see that I didn’t fulfill an order I thought I had and then was overseas helping family settle in a new location and wasn’t chipping for three weeks. Also that I returned, apologized, offered recompense, and then gave away hundreds in chips to the community for fun.

Before you throw stones at someone raising an objective point who happens to be running, again, about $300 in charity auctions, maybe try spending $15 on supporting the site you so love to post on  :whistling: (don’t think I was holding my breath on you bidding, whether you like the guy or not). Nice try though!

If you'd like, I will gladly find some links (or PM strings) to show that you have now on multiple occasions had some shady business dealings. If I would have known about your first disappearance, I probably wouldn't have had to have gone through the Outpost trouble. Be careful for what you ask for. There were several of us that were less than impressed with your stunts, so much so that a couple of us looked at getting law enforcement involved.

As for your charity auctions, I think that is great, but you're not getting a cookie from me for it. Your motives are often in question.

Love you too! Merry Christmas and lemme know if you ever need anything!

Throw a link up here for the charity auctions your running or have ever bid on and I’ll throw a bid in!

Happy holidays all!

A likely response. Deflection is often a common MO.

Jesus kid, I was simply trying to end this as my initial post was literally objective viewpoint and an ask not to shit on charity auctions.

Find a person on here who’s ever not been made whole by me. Or just leave negative feedback. Or, I suppose, go on with subjective personal attacks for another three pages on a thread describing someone’s misfortune. I’m out, was tryin to help. Shoulda left it one and done like BGinGA.

Well, bye.

One of these days I'm going to have to make a list of all the site "jerks". I simply don't have the time to maintain a grudge.
