Manila is a family favourite for me.
At least once a year we have a family game (dad, brothers, uncles, cousins) that is over-subscribed and we have to take turns to sit it out.
I grew up watching my dad, granddad and uncles play. Now some of my nephews and kids of my cousins have started to join. It's an awesome tradition and a lot of fun.
It's likely due to nostalgia, but I think it's my favourite format of poker to play. So often I find myself folding too early, or more often too late - it really keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Wondering if there are any other fans lurking around these parts, and if they use any particular strategies when they play.

How is it played
Sorry for such a belated reply!
It's almost identical to Texas Hold Em with these two key differences:
- You MUST use both of your hole cards and three community cards in your hand
- A flush beats a full house

In our family games, the dealer rotates to the next clockwise player, with the player to the left of the dealer setting the "high" for the pot.
I play Texas Hold Em with friends sometimes. I think I prefer Manila - I find it way more unpredictable!
