100%'d the first Slay the Spire and just bought the 2nd. Had no idea there was multiplayer, nice little wrinkle. Don't know how everything scales but seems fantastic so far. Just played for an hour last night with a friend. Was going to wait for a sale but eh I loved the first enough.

I tried giving Crimson Desert a chance. First boss battle wasn't too bad, the Hornsplitter. But tried taking on the Devil of Reed Field and you are constantly being spammed by mobs of enemies spawning on you as you fight your way up a hill, while the Boss shows up to pound on you too, and you can't even take him out until you make your way through this mob/gauntlet multiple times on the way to the top of the hill.

I gave up on it, and tried to rescue some people being held prisoner by the bleed bandits. But to win there, you have to kill ONE-HUNDRED ENEMIES (according to what I looked up, since once again I just gave up because it's such a fucking tiring slog that wasn't any fun)

I want to upgrade my camp, I want to put those trade goods to use, but all the actual fun stuff is locked behind 30 fucking hours of insanely difficult missions before you can get to it.

And yes, I've upgraded my gear and explored tons.
Beat this boss first try, no joke. I did get a beehive club, which is crazy good, but breaks. Git gud son!

;)

Most any of the Assassin's Creed titles - Odyssey lately. Anno 1800/Cities Skylines - Fallout 4

Some of you all amaze me - I'm an old guy and if I need to click/press more than two buttons together or in a row, I feel like I might have a stroke!

Considering it was yesterday, after. I believe the patch came out Monday on PS5.

I got wrecked pre-patch. Tried it again post-patch but circumvented the stairs by climbing rocks to get straight to the field and won it on that 2nd try

The devs did a solid job responding to player issues, although the controls, inventory, etc still need work.

Pacing is off, I've got tons of trade goods and 9 camp members I can send on missions but still can't construct a wagon to transport them

And while some puzzles are easy enough, many are overly complex and require looking up guides and I don't gind they add value or fun.

Since then I've beaten the excavatron and freed the quarry, but can't send missions to get stone from the quarry cause I need to unlock research for it

Also beat the Crimson mist boss and in chapter 5 with lvl 4 gear atm

I just finished Excavatron. Moved the giant stone with the crane, but can't get into the bismuth door in the ruins below. Now I'm just doing stuff. I found the Spire of the Stars, but couldn't enter it. So I completed a quest in the nearby Scolarstone.

I fully upgraded Forward Slash and got the Echo ability from the green tree to go with it. I upgraded grappling so I could clothesline people, which has been extremely fun.

Omg, I fight hundreds of enemies and the excavatron, liberate the quarry and then immediately the new foreman is like "hey, the ONE guy who can run this crane tweaked his back so I need YOU to do it"

The writing is so fucking bad. Like, motherfucker, I just fought a fucking army to liberate this place, my fucking back is aching too bro

ask one of your hundreds of workers to do it

Standard solo hero logic.

Standard solo hero logic.

So I've played in the gambling Den a couple times already in Hernand and now I get a mission to catch someone who cheated Yann (who's a giant constant annoying fuckup and not sure why the Greymanes tolerate his shit) and I arrive and some dude is like "first time?" and my character is like "aye"

Motherfucker, I've already been here 2-3 times, wtf?

fucking finally, took 38 goddamn attempts - i will probably never play regent again lol.

After the silent, you had me really worried. I tend to cheese and not really meta in anything I play, but The Silent was the only supes difficult for me.

Weirdly the Regent was strangely semi easiest. Even the losses runs were all pretty far into the run, where I had just been overzealous and was at like under 10 hp for almost the entire map, but I think I just happened to hit easy runs/seeds - like for almost each run the ? rooms were mostly gold and relics, never see that.

One thing I don't get as much as others is the replayability. I'm pretty likely done with it not for the most part. There's only like 3 cards not unlocked, 1 potion, and less than 10 epochs. Like....that's just weird to me. I won 1 playthrough with 4 characters, and 3 with the 5th. And everything is pretty much wrapped up, except I can go on harder difficulty. Ummmmmm...if there's not any more power leveling or cool loot or anything, noping out.

i’m with you. once i win with every character, that’s it for me. i don’t really enjoy grinding games, and i don't think i've ever replayed any game or even done an ng+1. generally speaking, i'm happy to roll credits, and when i’m done, i’m done. online multiplayer games used to be an exception, but i don’t have the time to get good at those anymore.

StS2 has been fun, but i’ve got multiple wins with everyone now, so i’m stepping away for a bit and heading back to my current favorite genre, metroidvanias.

grime II is hitting great for me. i loved the first one, and the sequel feels like it’s improved on pretty much everything so far. anyone else playing it?

There's a few games like Grime I want to play. Haven't played those style games since the original Nintendo and Genesis but always loved them. I have a few I've downloaded like the Ender games, Grime, Hollow. Haven't played any of them yet. Currently playing Dishonored 2 and then I'll play Death of the Outsider. Yeah, I'm way backed up on games.

hollow knight is the perfect entry point, it is just so so good, its reputation as genre-defining is well-deserved. the sequel is awesome too, but it will absolutely destroy your will if you start there - it's a very hard game. the second ender game is vastly superior to the first in my opinion, and would also be a great entry point, it is more forgiving than HK. check out prince of persia: the lost crown too.

both dishonored games were amazing!

Thanks for the advice!

COD MWZ (MW3 Zombies, PVE extraction shooter) is one of the best games I've played in the last few years. I created a new Activision account so I could start over. I've chatted with a few others on a Discord server. Some are up to 5 or 6 accounts.

Finally unlocked the Erratic deck. Definitely by the skin of my teeth. The last round was 'very large blind' at 1200. Luckily I had Mr. Bones (score at least 25%). Also had Throwback and it was perishable and on it's 5th round.

They really need to release a sequel with some new decks.

Ready or Not has been a hoot. Recently started going for S ranks and unlocked the Hawaiian shirt.

Got Saros on Wednesday while I was sick. 23 in game hours later, I'm about to get the 2nd ending. Gameplay is great. Main story is serviceable sci-fi. The personal side side is very meh and feels very tacked on.

UPDATE

Finished Saros. Great gameplay, meh story. It should have leaned harder into the cosmic horror.

It's a pseudo sequel to Returnal, a game very few people played from 2021. Very similar gameplay, and IMO a better story that does more with less.

If you haven't played either and have a PS5 (or PC for Returnal), I highly recommend them. Imagine a bullet hell schmup transformed into a 3rd person shooter with roguelike elements. Saros is easier, but hard if you feel overwhelmed by something like this...
