What are your chipping goals? When do you reach your "chipping nirvana" ? (2 Viewers)

Man, I love these threads. I hit the hobby hard my first year here. Only you, Ben, and @Jeevansluck hit it harder I think. There was a time at the end of last year where I hit a wall and wasn't sure where the journey would take me next. Then I discovered THC molded Paulsons  :ROFLMAO:

After my CDI set is completed, that's going to be it for a while in terms of new sets for quite a while besides filling in a rack here and there to (finally) finish my Rounders Tourney set and Key West cash set.

I may go the route of custom Cali colored Rounders for a cash set, but probably not until next year. I'm also planning a mega CPC cash/tourney set that I'm going to order either at the end of the year or beginning of next, just need to get the artwork files and finalize the colors and edge spots. I have my 44mm cash set also pending from CPC that I'm hoping to have by the end of the year.

At that point, honestly and realistically, I'm just about there already. My absolute 100% grail set is an Empress Star Primary Tournament set, but realistically I'm priced out of these chips. I don't have the capital to plop down $4,000 to $7,000 on a complete set all at once.

Maybe there's a Sunfly buy that will get my attention. Maybe a surprise to the community will come about in the form of another big find a la the Santa Ysabel's or a really solid Chip Room offering, but I will have to say it will take a lot to pique my interest. I'm not expecting any new Chip Room offerings any time soon sadly.

At 5 cash and 5 tournament sets plus the major CPC combo set that I'm working on, I think I'm just about there. I don't see myself selling anything any time soon either. I'm happy with what I have and have a solid rotation plan for use of the sets.

Chipping Nirvana?
For me it’s about putting together a few great sets that totally grab my attentions. Could be the colors, the simplicity, the complexity, the history, you name it.
But to take it a little further, it’s also about the experience you will get when putting your chips into play. Creating an atmosphere around your chips that is also like or close to Nirvana.
I personally believe I’m getting pretty close, it’s mostly about filling in some holes with sets, kinda like @BGinGA described above.
Filling in those holes could take several more years but for the most part, I feel like I’m about there. I’ve kept it relatively simple and have mostly tried to stay focused on what I KNOW I truly love.
A little Nirvana for me below..

As far as I know, none were made. Then again, only one NCC $100 is known to exist, and no $25s are known to survive.

So, yeah, since I'm hunting unicorns, why not. Let's find a barrel of $500s. :ROFLMAO:

Obv my TRK knowledge is subpar /newbie level
I was misten these for NCC

Still hope you find those unicorns :)

No joke, once a year I tell myself all I need is 1 tourney set and 1 cash set. I then usually look over and see 5 of each. So I've sold some, only to see a new offering and jump at the opportunity to own something different.

Also tastes change.
-Used to ONLY like hotstamped.
-And ONLY THC.
-Used to HATE giant inlay.

Now, I'd love a large inlay set of BCC Mardi Gras. Completely goes against the 3 points above.

But I think after I finish a few custom sets I milled on different molds I'll be good:

-Own 2 cali color THC sets
-own 1 Paulson tourney set
-working on about 10 mill/relabel sets: THC, Nevada, HHR, CSQ, etc...mix of cash/tourney
-2x BCC Martini Club sets on the way
-own MD50, HHR, CSQ cash sets
-Want Mardi Gras tourney set and I'll be good.....I think.....for a while.....

Great chips and even better friends, cheers Matty

Over the years I've purchased and then sold off alot of casino Paulson sets. Ultimately, the only set I've kept is the custom BCC set. I'd get rid of it in an instant if I could get a legit custom Paulson set (not a relabel set).

I will only hit chipping nirvana when I get fully custom Paulsons and Abbiatis. Otherwise, I’ll just keep buying and switching out sets, only permanently keeping my customs. I feel like customs are the only chips that matter to me at this point.

Nirvana for me is being at peace with the fact that I'll never be able to attain it!

Really though, if I could put together a true custom NAGB Paulson cash and tourney set for myself, with @Chippy McChiperson guiding the design work (I mean really, how many grail sets can one guy design??) , then that would sure as heck be up there in terms of achieving some perfectly balanced state of chipping bliss.

I appreciate the kind words, but I just came up with a couple ideas, @Johnny5 is the magician who turned those ideas into some really great designs.

I think I've reached chipping nirvana, how do I know? I'm at a point where I'm going to let go of some awesome chips i've acquired to prevent myself building an additional set, as anything at this point will be redundant and I have other hobbies needing my funding right now haha.

All chips are in hand for these sets, just waiting to finalize and order 2k labels from Gear. Gotta take some updated set pics, but my keeper collection is:
- 900pc CPC custom Bicycle Shack Cali Set
- 800pc Aztar Cash Set
- 640pc Binions cash set
- 800pc Hickory Club relabel Cali Cash Set
- 600pc Copa Tourney Set

Chipping Nirvana for me just isnt going to happen!! But when I think of the perfect all around collection @Chippy McChiperson takes that prize! Custom tourney and cash, oversized paulson tourney set, absolutely insane TRK set, amazing one of a kind limit set. Just added another CPC set... and who knows what I haven't seen yet!! May be partial since I have had the privilege of playing/shuffling these chips.

I think about all of this... shake my head and then say at the same time... @Seeking Alpha Social Club collection is absolutely insane and mind blowing as well! Not enough time to type out that collection... just if you ever get a chance to visit that chipping museum freaking accept the invite!!!

There are many others that can truly cover any situation.. and I agree it is different for everyone! For @Lil Tuna it's not about covering the table in chips it's the chips that are important to him!! Other than a limit set he can pretty much cover anything. Not as massive of a rotation, but truly top notch chips that are "meet up worthy" I believe in anyone's eyes!!

@FordPickup92 and I have acquired a lot of chips! The PCAs, the mixed TRK, the mixed hot stamp and The Silver Tounged Devils are all meet up worthy but most of the others are B or even C tier in my eyes... still got some catching up to do, but not a bad start for under a year and a half into chipping!!

When I say "meet up worthy"... I like to think of The SQM in Florida that @k9dr hosts. If you are having people come in from thousands of miles away... can you keep their interests with 3 days of truly unique and top notch chips? Enough to cover at least 30 players? Many here have reach that status and to me that's Chipping Nirvana! Not saying you can't spice it up with a new set on occasion but 3 days of unique quality chips that people otherwise don't get to play with on a regular basis!

No body wants to travel 1000 miles to play with these guys I will admit that!!

All cool chips but just not really impressive to collectors in my eyes. In your local poker game sure!! You will be king... but with veteran chippers.. just run of the mill stuff! Not trying to put down anyone who may own these... just in my opinion to host a meet up you need better chips on the table!

Nirvana? I’m pretty much there when I finish the projects in the works. The only thing I want down the road is a 50 player tourney set (likely Sun-Fly) to support my goal for a Northwest meet-up.

The sets that I have are fairly diverse.

Cash
Large Cali AS set that includes micro stakes, $1/$20 limit set and up to $5/$5 no limit

One of a kind ES Chipco set

Large (Burt or ASM?) Tri-club 25¢/$5 limit set to relabel

Large West World cash set committed to buying soon

Tourney
CPC Chesterfield Club tourney set coming today

CPC American High Roller tourney set

Scrub Donkey tourney set

Relabel Mirage THC solid tourney set

I may have missed something. But I think that’s it.

Edit: Missed one! 300 chip CPC FDL day glo micro stakes set to design and label. This will be a fun little set.

I think the only way for me to reach chipping nirvana is to have a playable every set out there. Not realistic and not going to happen.

I don't really have a hard set goal, but like many here have said the main purpose is to have playable sets that I enjoy getting on the felt. I currently have two cash game sets I love, a third on the way, a partially built solid set and one tourney set. If I can think of a good theme this year I'll build a CPC set to call my forever set. That doesn't mean I won't have other sets to alternate with though :)

Chipping goals? This set right here lol. I'll just have to keep bothering @RocAFella1 till he hands it over :banghead::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

If @RocAFella1 is strapped for cash, I'm sure he'd take my money for the Ambassador Plazas before he'd take your money for the Aztar tournament set...

I think I'm pretty close! Down to four sets, three cash and one tournament.

Aruba Palm Beach - cash set (1800)
Aztar MO Secondary - cash set (1500)
Highway 9 - cash set (1200)
Aurora Star - tournament set (2100)
Did you ditch the relabel set?

I’d travel a thousand miles just to play cards with some great folks, doesn’t matter the chips.

I think I'm down to completing 2 sets then done for a while (although that could easily change based on new casino or nagb sales, also may change when I can start playing again).

Right now I need to:
- finish a custom cash set relabel set I am working on. I have most of the chips (all chips purchased, just in shipping), and am slowly working on inlay design
- complete my Lady Luck hotstamp set - I'd really like to fill out the top denoms and am willing to buy a whole other set to do it. If this works I plan on trying to add some custom hot stamp chips

Chipping Nirvana is reached either if you own each and every imaginable set in the world (mind you, you may hurt people in an attempt to do that) or accepting the reality of one cash set, one tourney set and one rural travel set.

People can (?) make the latter compromise when it comes to love and procreation partners, under social coercion though, which I guess is the reason why they can (and do) go astray on the front of material belongings.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a separate rural travel procreation partner  :whistling::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:
