This week I picked up an old case for ~$100 with a little over 300 filthy, hot stamped solid Paulsons. There are some other cheapo chips visible in this picture that I am not including in this count.
I should say right away - I have not deluded myself into thinking that I found a huge money-maker. Rather, I thought this would be great for experimenting with cleaning, oiling, etc, as I am still very green at this.
After removing the junk chips from this case, I was left with these quantities:
White $5: 47
Red $10: 96
Blue $25: 100
Yellow $50: 72
They are mostly gross, and I have ordered an ultrasonic cleaner, TSP, and mineral oil (not just for these) based on my reading here, so I know what steps 1 & 2 will be.
For all you seasoned, battle-hardened poker chip veterans, I want to know what you would do with these.
Are they salvageable for anything? Is there a way to date them?
Here are a couple more shots that show their very rough condition and hot stamps:
Side question -
Below: look at the chip on the right. There are several of these washed-out looking chips. They feel dry. Are the "red" chips that look like this so pale and discolored because they need to be oiled, and would this imply that a cleaning was attempted?
Thanks for reading!
