What are your chipping goals? When do you reach your "chipping nirvana" ? (1 Viewer)

Asm is now CPC and afaik still produces the scroll mould. In order to seek out a set of custom Paulsons you must first figure out how to enter into a not a group buy group buy. When you do please let the rest of us know!!!! Haha o_O:LOL:

Yeah I know but can't bring myself to not call them ASM. No problem on the paulsons just need to get a gaming license and open a card room!

There is still a fair amount of ASMs around the forum!
Haha that would be fabulous!

I'm pretty content right now, because I have more sets than I have games in a year.

I like having the ability to showcase a multitude of different sets for those that are willing to learn. Slugged ABS, China Clay, high quality plastics, real clay, and multiple sizes. The only thing I am "missing" is a hot-stamp set. Preferably tournament hot stamps, enough to cover two tables. Probably customs, but if I could get a set that had a connection to a casino I have played in, that would be great. Alas, I play mostly in Vegas, so we know those sets will never come available.

In the meantime, I have a slowly growing cash reserve just waiting until the opportunity comes along. Maybe that's nirvana. Not wanting, just ready.

Simple goals. A solid limit set and a solid mixed game set. 20 racks total will do the trick. :)

Since I went to customs, I sold almost all my other chips.
The only casino set I kept is small (6-max) mixed set with some of my favorite chips.
I also kept a small heads-up / 4-max / travel set and a cheap slugged set when a friend who has no set wants to host a game.
Except adding to my remaining real casino set, I don't think to buy other sets anymore.

With the recent completion of my custom 43mm 8v set my chip wants have been considerably curved. I still enjoy looking at the classifieds to see whats out there, but aside from the Palms tourney set, I'm very content. There are some grail/dream sets out there for which I would sell it all to get a chance to own.

I need fully custom; Paulson 39mm, 43mm, 50mm; Abbiati, 39mm, 43mm, 45mm; and Sun-Fly, 39mm, 43mm, and 50mm sets for both cash and tournament, covering 36 players + rebuys, and breakdowns ranging from T2k-T10m for tourneys, and $1-$5000 for cash (Gotta cover all my bases). I have a slight feeling that'll take a while, and a bit of money. So far, I'm planning 1/90 of that, so... progress!

Didn’t realize I already posted here. Guess these are my revised goals then. :D

I feel like I just got there with the recent purchase of the ESPT. It’s weird because I didn’t really expect to be saying that I’ve found my chipping nirvana a year and a half into chipping.

After acquiring certain sets, releasing some, acquiring some more, finally managed to narrow it down to my favorites. I thought it would take longer but somehow I find that I’m pretty content with what I have. It’s time to take a seat and enjoy them.

At which point does a chipper stop accumulating chips around the clock so he or she can soak it all in? As for me? No mirage. My gut tells me I’m there. Stack ‘em up, pour a glass, play this awesome game with some awesome chips surrounded by awesome people. Can’t ask for more.

I don't know how many incarnations it will take.

First incarnation as Dimes on CT
 Custom ASMs
 Custom BCCs
:( Custom Chipcos
 Nice home Paulsons (PCR 1)
 Nice home Chipcos (Egyptians with orig octas & plaques)

Second incarnation as Chipenhagen on PCF (to be determined and fulfilled)
:hearts: Custom low-denom CPCs
:diamonds: Custom high-denom CPCs
:clubs: Maybe high-end plastics or jetons/plaques
:spades: Maybe extremely nice Paulsons

I realized I might be there or approaching it. I have a few sets in progress, which I hope to wrap up by the end of the year.

I have one set that just doesn’t quite work for me, even though I keep adjusting it...that one might end up being traded out...but I don’t know for what, yet. Maybe no new set is the answer. Time will tell.

Lots of sets I’d love to play on, and that’s what meet ups are for!

I guess I’m a man of simple taste.

GOAL #1: cash set of DDLM.

GOAL #2: Aurora Star tournament set (love love love the $500 and $1000 chips in this set).

GAME #3: revel in poker chip nirvana.

I’m currently still using dice chips so these goals are a huge upgrade for my game.

Bumping this thread as we approach the holidays and new year!
I gotta tell you, I really do miss "large" USPS boxes showing up, but everything I like is stupid expensive...so probably a good thing I am in the winding down phase.

Don't get me wrong....if somebody auctions off some TRK Deadwoods, Rounders, or SB Mexican rose $500s...SHIT IS GETTING SPENSIVE!! Like Submariner drunk as shit expensive...LOL!! But short of that...I'm pretty damn close to nirvana my friend!!. :)

Hmmm... I think I reached my Nirvana without even knowing it, when I acquired my Pacific Star set. Thank you again, @Tommy!

With those, the Vineyards, my ACFs, the Mullett Bays, and the Casablancas, there's nothing more I lust after. And that's not a sad thing, since we can't hold games right now, really...

Man, I love these threads. I hit the hobby hard my first year here. Only you, Ben, and @Jeevansluck hit it harder I think. There was a time at the end of last year where I hit a wall and wasn't sure where the journey would take me next. Then I discovered THC molded Paulsons  :ROFLMAO:

After my CDI set is completed, that's going to be it for a while in terms of new sets for quite a while besides filling in a rack here and there to (finally) finish my Rounders Tourney set and Key West cash set.

I may go the route of custom Cali colored Rounders for a cash set, but probably not until next year. I'm also planning a mega CPC cash/tourney set that I'm going to order either at the end of the year or beginning of next, just need to get the artwork files and finalize the colors and edge spots. I have my 44mm cash set also pending from CPC that I'm hoping to have by the end of the year.

At that point, honestly and realistically, I'm just about there already. My absolute 100% grail set is an Empress Star Primary Tournament set, but realistically I'm priced out of these chips. I don't have the capital to plop down $4,000 to $7,000 on a complete set all at once.

Maybe there's a Sunfly buy that will get my attention. Maybe a surprise to the community will come about in the form of another big find a la the Santa Ysabel's or a really solid Chip Room offering, but I will have to say it will take a lot to pique my interest. I'm not expecting any new Chip Room offerings any time soon sadly.

At 5 cash and 5 tournament sets plus the major CPC combo set that I'm working on, I think I'm just about there. I don't see myself selling anything any time soon either. I'm happy with what I have and have a solid rotation plan for use of the sets.
I'll provide an update to this.

I really love the feel of the Cigar and Snifter mold, so I'm working on Protege sets. Tournament set is settled, just need a couple of racks to finish the cash set.

The mega CPC B-mold order is in. Over 1000 chips.

Still waiting on the 44mm A-mold cash set. Hoping for a shipping notice any day now.

Also planning a ceramic 43mm or 47mm WSOP tribute set from ABC/BRPro for my yearly league main event that I can hopefully start this coming summer.

I am probably going to defer the Cali Rounders cash set to 2022, late 2021 the earliest. I'm planning a base cash set with limit game capabilities, which would make that set at least 1500 chips. Going to have to save up and beg David to allow me to forward him some cash in installments ahead of time before putting in the official order.

So much for 5 of each set being the chip nirvana. Whoops.

Short term goal is to get my custom CPC cash set and T100 tournament set, just about ready to get a designer as I think I finally have my ideas flushed out.

Keep working on the mixed limit set, but honestly that will always be a work in progress as my tastes change and I swap some out as others become available, not going to go over 1600 chips though, so I'll have to periodically sell some off.

Eventually I want a ceramic T25 set for 2 tables, but that is a ways down the road as I haven't quite figured out how I want to do it yet.

Once I find a few racks of Black Starbursts?

Sorry...couldn’t help myself!

Hmm so if I find any of these, can we trade some PCAs :p

Amazing sets! I would love to play the pac stars some day! It's a sad world when poker playing is really at a minimum :(
I'll provide an update to this.

I really love the feel of the Cigar and Snifter mold, so I'm working on Protege sets. Tournament set is settled, just need a couple of racks to finish the cash set.

Well. Congratulations! I think? Lol kidding. Sounds like a great transformation, Ben and I also have considered going down the inplay/protege path.... but not yet. In due time!

I lived in nirvana for about 8 years with an awesome Grand Vic roulette mold solids set that covered all the bases, cash, tournament... whatever I needed out of them... they provided... it was a modest 800 piece set. I kinda drifted when CT was closing down and didn’t make it here. Like tattoos, I figured it best to buy slowly.

Then I caught the bug again.

In the last couple years went through about 6 big sets, building, buying selling, seeking. Never feeling satisfied.

My roulette mold set grew to 2000 pieces of tournament bliss. It can easily do 4 tables, 5 with some ingenuity. I’m enamored with it, the goal is now to mill those chips, realistically it’s going to take years given the little amount of free time I have, but I will do it.

I just went Nutz on the HSI set. I feel amazing like I did after I first built the Grand Vic set, it’s going to cover me for a lifetime. It’s a cash set of a lifetime. I know I won’t be able to beat it... given my budget and given the type of sets I like. I like tons of chips. I skipped a bunch of sets from Jim’s sales, I’m glad I waited for this HSI because it hit a home run for me.

I sold off almost everything else I had laying around to afford those chips. I am sitting on 4 sets now. The HSI cash set(doubles as limit set) and the Roulette molds tourney set. I’m keeping them for life (unless my family needs money badly)

The other two are probably going for sale, And then I’m going into semi retirement.

The other two are a minty 600 piece solids THC tourney set of very very choice colors and a minty H-mold limit set.

There’s a ton of sets I love, and I have had so much fun in the hunt, but I think i got it. Nirvana. Now it’s time to love the sets I got.
