Ok I got it figured out. For some reason just having "name" in there would only display first name, but when I took it out and added "first name" and "last name" it works now. Could just be some other setting I had messed up but its all good now. Thanks!

Hey one other thing. In our tournaments, we do an addon at the break, but you're only eligible for it if you haven't used a rebuy at all. Is there a way to add that condition in? Basically making anyone who has rebought ineligible for addons?

I think the name thing is dependent on how you have them entered in the database.

The variable for only being eligible for an add-on if you have not had a rebuy has been discussed by several in the TD forums. The app does not have that capability now but Cory has said he will add it in future revisions.

Awesome. Appreciate the help. The forums there are not as easy to navigate as here. I think I'm at least getting the basics figured out.

Once I have my blinds, layout, sounds, etc setup the way I want them, how do I save that as a template for future tourneys?

Every page should have a Save Template button so you can save whatever you create, how many different versions you want to have.

Ok another quick question. I've noticed that I can't do addons until I start the tournament clock. Is there anyway to fix this? We typically do an addon at the beginning that people can get and it would be much easier to do as I'm buying everyone in instead of having to hit play on the tournament timer then do it individually.

Just to reply to my own question. I figured it out. You have to push B on the main tournament screen and then override the block to allow addons before the tournament starts. Kinda a pain but at least it gave me a work around for the game last night.

Everyone loved the new setup. I think I'll be purchasing a license.

I didn't set up any formula for points but after the tournament was over it still gave everyone a point total when I looked at the stats. Does anyone know what TD's default point breakdown is? If I decide to come up with my own can I retroactively go back and put it into the tournament that is already done since I have it saved?

Good to know on the pre-tourney AddOn

I am not sure what default points system your tourney may have used, but I do know you can go back into an old tourney and put in the points formula you want and it will recalculate the points using what you input. I have done it.

Good deal. I'm still working on what I want for a setup. I'm looking for a formula that will reward the standard stuff with points but I also wanna add some things like an attendance bonus and points for bounties as we typically use those. @CraigT78 was kind enough to share his formula and spreadsheet he uses for his league and unfortunately I've been too busy to even sit down and look at it so it might actually cover everything I need.

My goal is to start our league in September, however we will continue to have tournaments before that and I wanted to use the months between now and then to work out the kinks in things so I'd love to go back and plug the formula in to see how things work.

If any of you guys have a point setup that covers all that stuff and don't mind sharing with me I'd appreciate it, and again like I said Craigs might already cover that and if it does I apologize. The last week has been kinda a blur.

Hi all,

We have been using TD for our home game for many years. The guy who runs our league has the software on an old laptop that he brings. We want to load it on a newer laptop so we can use TeamViewer software to cast it to android tablets around the room. What is the best way to do that? He has a license for an older version, not sure if it is version 2 or 3. He had done something to try and get it set up on the new laptop, and most things work, but when I try to load a template, it says "Template can't be loaded" or something like that.

I guess my main question is, should I try to download the software from the TD website and then copy in our blind schedules, names, etc... I would like to be ready for the next tournament ahead of time. We keep trying to do it quickly before the tourney starts, but don't get time. Thanks!

I know a license for V3 is good for any V3 so if you have that you are good to use it for the newest version 3.7
I suggest emailing Cory directly from the TD website, he is very responsive to questions related to his software.

There is a way to use the licences on v3, I dont remember if we had to do anything but as @bsdunbar1 says, they are responsive. I think you just need to get a new license key from them (no additional charge).

How I would do it:
1) backup all files on old PC (there is a backup option, or just copy all files)
2) install v3
3) run a backup zip
4) install v3 sw on a new laptop
5) enter the key
6) load the backup

Question for you Tournament Director users on here. I have been using Poker Tournament Manager for many years and I like it, I’m familiar with it. However there hasn’t been an update in years and there are few things I wish it did. For example I have 3 tables but PTM only allows you to fill one table at a time. I use seating chips for all 3 tables, but the software doesn’t open a new table until the appropriate numbers of players are registered. So, does Tournament Director allow you to assign a player on table 2 or 3 when only 2 or 3 players are registered? My apology if this has been covered already.

Also can you keep a portion of money from each tournament for the end of league/season prizes?

I’m thinking of switching to The Tournament Director but not sure if it has these features?

Short answer is yes and yes.

You can define the number and size of tables in advance of the games and then use random seating or manually seat players. I usually setup the tables for the amount of players I KNOW I will get to minimize moving people if the right amount don't show (e.g. if I have 15 players registered but 2 are unreliable I may set table 1 for 7 players and table 2 for 6 players and then expand them as needed).

For the second question, you can set a rake, it can be a set amount per game or per player. You can actually setup multiple rakes, I use this feature to record and display the high hand (the high hand being the second rake).

So just to clarify this section, do you have to set up as smaller tables and then increase or can you just start out with 2 tables of 10 seats and assign players to both tables as they show up?

@grantc54 pretty much summed it up.
Thanks, sounds like the way to go. But as for seating this is how it works in PTM. I can set up 2 tables to have only 5 seats, but if I'm using seating chips that have table 2 seat 10, I cant place the player at 2/10 until we get enough players registered and then expand the tables capacity in the software.

Yes to both.

You can start with 2 tables of 10 and manually seat players wherever you want in the software.

I use the computer to handle player moves when there are bust outs.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I will try this path and it's good to know that if I run into more trouble that the TD admins are responsive to questions. One additional question: Are there any significant functionality differences in the newer version of TD?

Yes. The new version works on windows 10. The previous version frequently crashed.

Agree - use the most current version.
I am amazed at how flawless this program works. It does everything it is supposed to do without fail!
My only regret is I didn't switch to this program years ago.

Did you find any good skins for yours? I tried to use a couple off the forums but couldn't get them to load. I'd love to have something that would be unique to our upcoming league.

I use a modified version of the default layout, no major changes. Font/color/size changes but that's about it.
I actually like the professional/casino look to the default.

I have modified the default to include the fields I wanted, and made all the backgrounds black with white text.

Ok while I'm in here. I'm playing with the formula for tourneys. I added my formula to a recent tournament and saved it. It adds the points when you refresh the stats like so
20200304_104807.jpg

But it doesn't add the points to the prize screen.
20200304_104651.jpg

Question is how do I get it to show on the prize screen retroactively essentially? Also if I start out a tourney with the formula in will it add the points to the prize screen automatically?

Why do you want it to show on the prize screen?
As players are knocked out it will show the points they collected on the players tab, and then on any exports you do.

I don't know...it has a points column. Just figure it should show it I guess.

I don't know that it won't, just wondering. I'll look at my prize screen when I get home but I would assume you can associate points with prizes?

Also here's the formula I've come up with. Let me know what you guys think.

(buyins * 100 - rank * 100 + 100) - (rebuys * 25) + (numberofhits * 10)
