Things that make you say hmmm... or ask why? (3 Viewers)

What is the big deal with shipping into Canada?

I ship to USA, regularly, and it's expected and assumed that I will. As soon as the roles are reversed, it's like a chore to the US seller. Like it becomes "Mission Impossible". I've heard excuses such as "too much paperwork". LMAO! I've also heard another excuse "too much hassle". Seriously?!?

I don't really care anymore. I'm over it. It does make me say to myself, "hmmmmmm.....why?"

It's not about filling out the paper work or customs forms. Once a package crosses the US border to the great beyond, I don't feel like I am in control of the final disposition of the package. If something goes awry, it's easier from my end to open a claim with the USPS than to track down the international shipper that accepts a package from the USPS. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think that the USPS will be of much help if a package goes missing in, let's say Spain or England.

It's a huge headache for both the seller and buyer to try and track the package down, and frankly, as I mentioned, I wouldn't be able to live with myself and would feel personally responsible for the package going missing even if I had nothing to do with it going missing.

+95% of the chips sold on here are US-US so if saying CONUS hits 95% of the demand they don’t see why they should worry about international shipping tracking (which I’ve seen be delayed for 4 weeks before at the first international collection site), forms (a lot more complicated than CONUS shipping label albeit not actually complicated), and people asking about fictional declaration values (personally I don’t care).

These aren’t my opinions just the reasons I’ve heard. Whether those are valid reasons is up to each individual seller.

It's USPS' responsibility to fix it with the other carrier (or compensate you for the loss, if that should happen). And yes, you can continue tracking it once it has landed to the country of destination, often including intermediate countries as well.

Mehhhh, whatever. I disagree with all of that. I'm over it..

As well, it's one lousy form, and there is no "paperwork".

Completely disagree with your sentiments here. My argument is, I ship to USA and it's never even a question or concern. It's actually assumed and implied somehow.

Its just too bad there isn't enough chipper population in Canada, or else I'd be the same way. Haha

I am long over it, and I've got USA re-shippers who aren't lazy. So I've got it covered! Just wanted to say my piece.

I don't have issues with dealing with you guys, but it makes it more difficult than necessary. I've been heavily active in buying and selling and never complain, but this thread lets me whine about it.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.

People who post lots of thumbnails of chips for sale. Just click the damn “full size” button and post. On my phone, I won’t click each one. Just post the full size pictures. Doesn’t hurt anyone

I get it, but I’ve done this before because once you click the thumbnail, you can swipe/scroll through all of the now full size pictures in a gallery style, so it ends up being more efficient (IMO), if you want to flip through a lot of photos. I think the resolution is also higher when you click it. YMMV

“These chips are for sale, accepting offers, since I haven’t listed a price.”

Uh, no. No price? It’s an auction. I offer $1.

^This is the one I came here to write.

It winds me up too, though honestly I've not come across much that I haven't been able to buy becuase of the conus only rule, even when it's been in the sales ad.

I've received and sent many, many chip packages over the years and every one has made it to the destination.

Though I did have one go temporarily missing from England to Poland. It got sent back to the sending post office, as the recipient wasn't in when the package was delivered. It was located and resent though with a positive outcome.

Ok, on the lighter, side here a several things that could male you say hmmm..

Could it be that all those trick-or-treaters wearing sheets aren’t going
as ghosts but as mattresses?

Is there another word for synonym?

Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do practice?”

If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?

Would a fly without wings be called a walk?

Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will
clean them?

If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain
silent?

If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and
apes?

What was the best thing before sliced bread?

If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown too?

Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Whose cruel idea was it for the word “Lisp” to have a “S” in it?

Why are hemorrhoids called “hemorrhoids” instead of “asteroids”?

Why do we drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?

@JMC9389 @ReallyGoodUsername you guys make it sound like the package leaves the face of the earth as soon as it crosses beyond the US boarders. :) Tracking will still work fine and delivery confirmation will be given.

What difference does it make if your $2000 package is lost domestically or internationally? You file a claim with USPS in either case. What more is there to do?

Prove it.

Never said anything of the sort just that I’ve had shipments get held up once they go international for a month. It’s not comfortable. I still ship more packages internationally per year then most non-US members though :D

Do you think the probability of a shipment getting lost equal between national and international shipments? Do you think the resolution process is equally complex for USPS and thus you? Again, I’m not against international shipping (I’m currently acting as a collection point for 3 international members) but oh boy if you think they’re exactly the same.

my experiences with international lost package claims (and international tracking/confirmation) has been different.

Tough one :)

And I love you for it:D

Fair enough. The more handlers the more risk of something going wrong. Seems reasonably safe though since one never hear otherwise around here. I would expect the process to be more complex for USPS but not for you as the seller. Your part still ends with filing a complaint, no?

I’ll defer to @Trihonda s experience but I figured the more people/companies involved, the more ways they can say you’re not covered or that it can drag on for months.

My niece and her boyfriend, both native Floridians, moved to Maine at the end of March. Wednesday night/Thursday they got their first taste of snow, between 7 and 8 inches. They went to the hardware store to buy a shovel for the walkway.

Can't make this shit up. He pitched the snow straight up and over his head with the wind against his back. When he walked into the apartment, my niece asked "Why is your backside and ass soaking wet?" The chowder head didn't once look over his shoulder to measure his progress.

It's fine, we agree to disagree.

For what it's worth, the one time I agreed to ship to Canada it went off without a hitch, but it didnt stop me from being nervous until the package made it to its destination.

Whatever, I'm in a place where I'm happy with what I have and am not looking to sell anything anytime soon anyway, so no sweat, right?

As I said, I've already found multiple members who are willing to be helpful, without equivocations.

@kaimat @Steppenwolf @horseshoez are just
3 members who've helped me without even a question or concern. There are others too, @Ethan , I understand is a helpful re-shipper.

@JMC9389 , it's all good. It's a simple thread and I aired my feelings. I've dealt with you a few times, and will be happy to do so in any future opportunity as well.

Why do chippers regularly buy sets of chips, sell them without every getting them in play only to buy more chips they’ll just eventually sell? Supporting the post office? Why?

(Lol. Me. I’m one of those chippers. Many examples. Recently bought a beautiful TRK hotstamp set. Had it sent to DetroitDads place for safekeeping. It was sold that week.)

It really is a sickness. An unexplainable sickness. It takes hold.

I've recently had my PayPal purposely locked out to prevent my buying. It's time to appreciate, love, and PLAY every Paulson I have. (Whenever we get back to living that is)

I'm so deep into the sickness that I play a variation of heads up by myself just so I get to handle my chips.

Deal a hand, each "player" provides an ante in the beginning of the hand. Look at hand, check, bet, or fold. Whatever I bet, the other hand calls but only at half the amount that I bet. Same goes for after the flop, turn, and river. If my hand is best, I keep the chips. If the other hand is better than they win it. You'd be surprised at how close the stacks are even after 50 hands.

Confused? Don't blame you, but it passes the time and I get to handle my chips because my wife won't play heads up with me.
