Just found some in Western Australia. Been searching on best maintenance (cleaning, to oil or not) but coming up blank.

Weird texture. Wondering how to confirm these are genuine bakelite type or something different.

No, no Bakelite in paranoids. A mix of inorganic (clay/minerals) with organic (celluloid), most likely.
Yeah, that matches better with what I have in front of me. Seems to be a lot of fibres in them. Think a few threads claimed bakelite and that mislead me.
Wondering if this interesting material matters for maintenance.

Yeah, there is a lot of digital ink on this page spilled about "paranoid" chips. All the rage in the early-mid 1900s. ;)
