Yeah, that matches better with what I have in front of me. Seems to be a lot of fibres in them. Think a few threads claimed bakelite and that mislead me.

7 cents back then would definitely be $1.67 in today's cost, not $16!
And here's my Paranoid comet tourney set today... 800 playable with an extra 20 of each color as backups, totaling 900 chips.
Green = T25
Brown = T100
Blue = T500
Yellow = T1000
Red = T5000
